BOOK 7 mu 471 . MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA , . _ Monday,. October.5th, 1 97.0 The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee convened in the Commissioners' Room of the County Office Building at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford, Lee County, North Carolina, on Monday, October 5th, 1970, at 10 o"clock a. m., the same being the time, date and place duly established for the holding of such meeting. The Chairman called the meeting to order and on roll call, the following answer- ed present: William H. Cooper, Perry White, Franklin D. Wicker, Gordon A. Wicker and John E. Dotterer. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was transacted: Commissioner White presented a bottle of milk which was produced in Lee County and the members of the Board toasted their Chairman upon his selection as Commissioner of the Year, by the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners. Chairman Dotterer expressed his appreciation to the members of the Board for their efforts in his behalf. Commissioner Gordon Wicker reported on the activities at the Convention which were highlighted by Chairman Dotterer's appointment and how the proceedings had reflected credit upon Lee County. A petition requesting improvement of Humber Street Extension in the Jonesboro Heights section was presented to the Board, It was explained that the parties who had delivered the petition questioned the 60 foot right of way provisions and therefore, the petition was referred to Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker who was to investigate the situation before final action was taken. A petition requesting the addition of Eveton Lane in Cool Springs Estates Subdivision, to the State Maintained Secondary Road System, was presented and discussed. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved the adoption of the following resolution: WHEREAS, the attached petition has been filed with the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee, requesting that the above described road, the location of which has been indicated in red on the attached map, be added to the Secondary Road System; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is of the opinion that the above described road should be added to the Secondary Road System, if the road meets minimum stand- ards and criteria established by the State Highway Commission for the addition of roads to the System. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee, that the State Highway Commission is hereby requested to review the above described road, and to take over the road for maintenance if it meets established standards and criteria.
