BOOK 7 mu 471 <br />. <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />, . _ <br />Monday,. October.5th, 1 97.0 <br />The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee convened in the Commissioners' Room of the County Office Building <br />at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford, Lee County, <br />North Carolina, on Monday, October 5th, 1970, at 10 o"clock a. m., the same <br />being the time, date and place duly established for the holding of such meeting. <br />The Chairman called the meeting to order and on roll call, the following answer- <br />ed present: William H. Cooper, Perry White, Franklin D. Wicker, Gordon A. <br />Wicker and John E. Dotterer. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the <br />following business was transacted: <br />Commissioner White presented a bottle of milk which was produced <br />in Lee County and the members of the Board toasted their Chairman upon his <br />selection as Commissioner of the Year, by the North Carolina Association of <br />County Commissioners. Chairman Dotterer expressed his appreciation to the <br />members of the Board for their efforts in his behalf. <br />Commissioner Gordon Wicker reported on the activities at the <br />Convention which were highlighted by Chairman Dotterer's appointment and <br />how the proceedings had reflected credit upon Lee County. <br />A petition requesting improvement of Humber Street Extension in <br />the Jonesboro Heights section was presented to the Board, It was explained <br />that the parties who had delivered the petition questioned the 60 foot right of <br />way provisions and therefore, the petition was referred to Commissioner <br />Franklin D. Wicker who was to investigate the situation before final action was <br />taken. <br />A petition requesting the addition of Eveton Lane in Cool Springs <br />Estates Subdivision, to the State Maintained Secondary Road System, was <br />presented and discussed. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved the <br />adoption of the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the attached petition has been filed <br />with the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee, <br />requesting that the above described road, the location of which <br />has been indicated in red on the attached map, be added to the <br />Secondary Road System; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is <br />of the opinion that the above described road should be added to <br />the Secondary Road System, if the road meets minimum stand- <br />ards and criteria established by the State Highway Commission <br />for the addition of roads to the System. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of <br />County Commissioners of the County of Lee, that the State <br />Highway Commission is hereby requested to review the above <br />described road, and to take over the road for maintenance if it <br />meets established standards and criteria. <br />
