dol(a-142- <br />LEE42 <br />LEE COUNTY <br />Cornrnitted Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING LEE COUNTY CLERK TO THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS GAYNELL M. LEE <br />FOR THE ACHIEVEMENT OF MASTER COUNTY CLERK <br />WHEREAS, North Carolina G.S. 160A-171 & 153A-111 requires each city and county in North Carolina to <br />have a clerk; and <br />WHEREAS, The position of clerk is one of the oldest in recorded history, responsible for recording the <br />historical business of the governing body and many other duties that keep local government meeting the <br />daily needs of its residents; and <br />WHEREAS, The International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) is a professional, nonprofit association that <br />promotes continuing education and certification through university and college -based institutes, serving as <br />an educational catalyst for clerks; and <br />WHEREAS, IIMC enhances critical professional skill development and fosters a spirit of mutual assistance <br />and good fellowship among municipal clerks around the globe; and <br />WHEREAS, Ms. Gaynell M. Lee has been an active member of the IIMC for years and has recently obtained <br />her Master County Clerk designation, the highest certification a county clerk can achieve; and <br />WHEREAS, To be eligible for the MCC, a county clerk must go through the steps required to be designated <br />as a Certified County Clerk, maintain the CCC designation for six years, and successfully complete more than <br />100 hours of continuing education within a three-year period; and <br />WHEREAS, Ms. Gaynell M. Lee is an outstanding county clerk, and her commitment to her profession is <br />demonstrated by the many hours she has devoted to completing all of the requirements to receive the <br />designation of Master County Clerk. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lee County Board of Commissioners commends Ms. Gaynell <br />M. Lee for attaining the Master County Clerk designation from the International Institute of Municipal <br />Clerks; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be presented to Gaynell M.
