1 <br />80th <br />MINUTES OF THE <br />7 pwrGULAR MEETING OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY <br />OF LEE. NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, June 7th, 1971 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee convened in the Commissioners' room of the County Office <br />Building at 9:30 o'clock a. m. on Monday, June 7, 1971, the same being the <br />time, date and place duly specified for the holding of said meeting. Those <br />present were: Commissioners William H. Cooper, J. Eugene Rogers, Perry <br />White, Gordon A. Wicker and Franklin D. Wicker, Chairman Franklin D. <br />Wicker declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of <br />business. <br />Chairman Franklin D. Wicker presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />The minutes of the meeting held on May 17, 1971, were approved and <br />ordered recorded. <br />A petition requesting that Secondary Road No. 1553 be extended <br />approximately one-half mile and maintained by the State was presented to the <br />Board and considered. Commissioner Cooper moved the adoption of the following <br />Resolution respecting said Road: <br />WHEREAS, the attached petition has been filed <br />with the Board. of County Commissioners of the County of <br />Lee requesting that the above.described road, the location <br />of which has been indicated in red on the attached map, be <br />added to the Secondary Road System; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners <br />is of the opinion that the above described road should be <br />added to the Secondary Road System, if the road meets <br />minimum standards and criteria established by the State <br />Highway Commission for the addition of roads to the System. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of <br />County Commissioners of the County of Lee that the State <br />Highway Commission is hereby requested to review the above des- <br />cribed road, and to take over the road for maintenance if it <br />meets established standards and criteria. <br />Commissioner Rogers seconded the motion and upon a vote it was <br />unanimously approved. <br />At 10:00 o'clock a, in. , the Chairman announced that the Board <br />would proceed to open the bids received for an air-conditioning system for the <br />District Court Room. The bids were as follows: <br />King Roofing & Manufacturing Company . . . . . $ 3, 352.00 <br />Coggin Heating and Air-Conditioning Co. . . . . $ 3, 685. 00 <br />Since the low bid was for a three and one-half ton unit as <br />specified and the other bid was for a four ton unit, the Board took the bids under <br />consideration. <br /><1A <br />
