BON 7 P"GM&- <br />MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR <br />MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, June 21, 1971 <br />The Adjourned Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners <br />for Lee County, North Carolina, convened on Monday, June 21, 1971, in the <br />Commi'ssioner's Room of the County Office Building at the corner of Steele and <br />Wicker Streets in.the City of Sanford, the same being the time, date and place <br />specified in the-motion of adjournment.' Those present were: Commissioners <br />William H. Cooper, J. Eugene Rogers, Perry White, Gordon A. Wicker and <br />Chairman Franklin D. Wicker. The Chairman declared a quorum present. <br />Chairman Franklin D. Wicker presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on June 7, 1971, were <br />approved and ordered recorded, upon motion of Commissioner Cooper, seconded <br />by Commissioner White and a unanimous vote of the Board. <br />Commissioner Cooper moved that Mr. Billy Ray Cameron be <br />employed as the Civil Defense Director'to be effective as of July 1, 1971: <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and the Board voted <br />unanimously to employ Mr. Cameron as the Civil Defense Director. <br />Mr. Nathan Crissman, Tax. Collector, advised the Board that the <br />annual meeting of the Tax Collectors would be held in conjunction with the <br />Commissioners Convention which will be held in Asheville. Commissioner <br />Cooper moved that Mr. Crissman be authorized to attend the annual meeting of <br />the Tax Collectors to be held in Asheville, North Carolina, on August 11, 1971 <br />through August 14, 1971. Commissioner White seconded the motion and upon <br />a roll.call vote it was unanimously adopted as follows: <br />AYE: Cooper, Rogers, White, F: Wicker and G. Wicker <br />NAY: None <br />The Chairman presented the returns showing the results of the <br />voting on the proposition to approve the Bond'Order authorizing the issuance of <br />$1, 000, 000. 00 of bonds to finance the construction of a water supply sy stem for <br />Lee County, and a Bond. Order authorizing the issuance of $500, 000. 00 of bonds <br />to finance the construction of sewage facilities for said County, adopted by the Board <br />of Commissioners on April 5, 1971, and the indebtedness to be incurred by the <br />issuance of such bonds at the special election held in the County of Lee on June <br />8, 1971, made by the Registrars and Judges of election appointed to hold the <br />election. The returns were read and considered. <br />Commissioner' Gordon A. Wicker moved the adoption of the <br />following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the Registrars and Judges of election <br />appointed to hold the special election held in the County of <br />Lee on June 8, 1971, have held said election and have made <br />returns showing the result of the voting on the proposition to <br />approve the Bond Orders authorizing the issuance of <br />$1, 500, 000. 00 of bonds adopted by the Board of Commissioners <br />on April 5, 1971, and the indebtedness to be incurred by the <br />issuance and the Board of Commissioners have considered <br />said returns and have duly canvassed the returns and have <br />ascertained the result of said election; and <br />
