s~K 7 P~6F . MINUTES OF THE REGULAR IVIEETING OF THE BOARD. OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY 2nd AUGUST, 1971 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, North Carolina, met in the Commissioners' Room of the County Office Building at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in Sanford, North Carolina, at 10 o'clock A. M. on Monday, August 2nd, 1971. The Chairman called the meeting to order and on roll call, the following answered present: William H. Cooper Perry White Franklin D. Wicker J. Eugene Rogers Gordon A. Wicker The Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting opened for the transaction of business. Chairman Franklin D. Wicker presided and the following business was transacted: The meeting was opened with prayer given by Dr. W. Stanley Potter, Minister Emeritus of the Steele Street United Methodist Church. The minutes of the meeting held on Monday, July 19, 1971, were approved and ordered recorded, upon motion of Commissioner Cooper, seconded by Commissioner Rogers, and unanimously adopted. The Petition for the improvement of Secondary Road 1203, commonly known as McCormick Drive, in the vicinity of Lemon Springs, was presented to the Board for consideration. . After consideration, Commissioner Cooper moved the adoption of the following Resolution: "WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee has investigated the condition of the above described road which is now a part of the system of roads maintained by the State Highway Commission, and which is indicated in red on the attached map; and. "WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the services rendered by said road and the traffic demands of said county, it is deemed necessary that said road be improved in order to better serve the interests of the people of this county. "NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, and the Board of County Commissioners hereby.approved and request that the State Highway Commission make the following improvements in the above described road: Paved. " Commissioner Rogers seconded the motion, and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. . The Chairman announced that the consideration and adoption of the Budget was in order.
