BOOK H PACE 1 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br />Tuesday, September 7th, 1971 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee <br />County, North Carolina, convened on Tuesday, September 7, 1971, Monday, <br />September 6, 1971, being Labor Day and observed as an official holiday. <br />The meeting convened in the Commissioners' Room of the County Office <br />Building, at the corner of Steele and Wicker'Streets in the City of Sanford, <br />North Carolina. Those present were Commissioners William H. Cooper, <br />J. Eugene Rogers, Perry White, Gordon A. Wicker and Franklin D. Wicker. <br />The Chairman declared a quorum present. Chairman Franklin D. Wicker <br />presided and the following business was transacted: <br />The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on August <br />16, 1971, were approved upon motion of Commissioner Rogers, seconded by <br />Commissioner Cooper, which motion was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Nathan Crissman, County Tax Collector, appeared before <br />the Board with Mr. E. M. Underwood, County Auditor, and they presented a <br />statement of the settlement of the 1970 tax levy. The settlement was reviewed <br />and discussed and upon motion of Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Commiss- <br />ioner Cooper, it was resolved to approve the settlement as presented by the <br />Collector. The settlement is as follows: <br />"County of Lee <br />Settlement of 1970 Tax Levy <br />Nathan, Crissman, Tax Collector <br />July 27, 1971 <br />Charges <br />Listed taxes - original list <br />$ 1 929 <br />893 <br />94 <br />Discoveries <br />25 <br />897 <br />38 <br />Penalties <br />6 <br />846 <br />07 <br />520 <br />25 <br />Costs <br />Schedule "B" licenses <br />5 <br />100 <br />19 <br />Total charges <br />$ 1 968 257 <br />83 <br />Credits <br />Discounts allowed $ 8 266 04 <br />Reliefs granted 2 984 08 <br />Insolvents allowed 41 734 39 <br />Land sales 168 830 43 <br />Distribution to funds 1 640 620 88 <br />Cash in bank 105 822 01 <br />Total credits $ 1 968 257 83 " <br />The roll call vote on the settlement was as follows: <br />AYE: Cooper, Rogers, White, G. Wicker and F. Wicker <br />NAY: None <br />upon motion of Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Commissioner <br />William H. Cooper, it was unanimously resolved that the books for the 1971 <br />tax levy be delivered to the Tax Collector with an order to collect same. <br />Pursuant to said regulation, the Chairman executed the following order for the <br />collection of the 1971 tax levy. " <br />
