39 is d~€ 43 <br />MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR <br />MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, February 21, 1972 <br />The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners <br />for Lee County, North Carolina, convened on Monday, February 21, 1972, in the <br />Commissioners' Room of the County Office Building, at the corner of Steele <br />and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford. Those present were: Commissioners <br />William H. Cooper, J. Eugene Rogers, Perry White, Gordon A. Wicker and <br />Franklin D. Wicker. None of the Commissioners was absent. <br />Chairman Franklin D. Wicker presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on Monday, February 7, <br />1972, were approved and ordered recorded. <br />The Chairman reminded themembers of the Board that-the District <br />Eight meeting of the North Carolina Association of the County Commissioners <br />would be held at the Lee County Courthouse, District Courtroom, on Wednesday, <br />the 8th day of March, 1972, at 2 o'clock p. m. <br />The Chairman reminded,the members that they were invited to <br />attend the annual banquet of the Sanford Chamber of Commerce, to be held at <br />the Central High School Cafeteria, in Sanford, on Tuesday,, February 29, <br />1972, at 7 o' clcok p. m. <br />There was a general discussion about budget matters and the Clerk <br />was requested to have the various county agencies and departments to. submit <br />their budget request by April 1, 1972. <br />The Chairman read to the Board a letter from the public Health <br />Department about the condition of one of its patients, Mrs. Mary Baine Jones. <br />The letter was referred to the Department of Social Services. <br />Mr.. Ernest Atkinson and Mr. Kenneth Brinson from the City Board <br />of Education and Mr. Harry Midkiff, Executive Director of the Sanford Redevelop- <br />ment Commission, appeared before the Board and discussed the possible sale of <br />redevelopment lands on Church Street in Sanford, to the County, for use as a part <br />of the campus of the W. B. Wicker School. Upon motion of Commissioner <br />Rogers, seconded by Commissioner Cooper, it was RESOLVED to request Mr. <br />Midkiff to have the property rezoned for public use and to have the property <br />appraised to ascertain what the selling price would be . <br />Mr. Nathan Crissman, Tax Collector, appeared before the Board, <br />and having reported the total amount of unpaid taxes for the current fiscal year, <br />requested that the Board set the date for the sale of tax liens in accordance with <br />G. S. 105-369. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Commissioner <br />Cooper, which motion was unanimously adopted, it,was RESOLVED that the tax <br />lien sale shall be held on the first Monday in June of 1972. The Tax Collector <br />was instructed to see that advertisement of said sale was made in accordance <br />with the statute. <br />
