39 is d~€ 43 MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA Monday, February 21, 1972 The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, North Carolina, convened on Monday, February 21, 1972, in the Commissioners' Room of the County Office Building, at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford. Those present were: Commissioners William H. Cooper, J. Eugene Rogers, Perry White, Gordon A. Wicker and Franklin D. Wicker. None of the Commissioners was absent. Chairman Franklin D. Wicker presided and the following business was transacted: The minutes of the regular meeting held on Monday, February 7, 1972, were approved and ordered recorded. The Chairman reminded themembers of the Board that-the District Eight meeting of the North Carolina Association of the County Commissioners would be held at the Lee County Courthouse, District Courtroom, on Wednesday, the 8th day of March, 1972, at 2 o'clock p. m. The Chairman reminded,the members that they were invited to attend the annual banquet of the Sanford Chamber of Commerce, to be held at the Central High School Cafeteria, in Sanford, on Tuesday,, February 29, 1972, at 7 o' clcok p. m. There was a general discussion about budget matters and the Clerk was requested to have the various county agencies and departments to. submit their budget request by April 1, 1972. The Chairman read to the Board a letter from the public Health Department about the condition of one of its patients, Mrs. Mary Baine Jones. The letter was referred to the Department of Social Services. Mr.. Ernest Atkinson and Mr. Kenneth Brinson from the City Board of Education and Mr. Harry Midkiff, Executive Director of the Sanford Redevelop- ment Commission, appeared before the Board and discussed the possible sale of redevelopment lands on Church Street in Sanford, to the County, for use as a part of the campus of the W. B. Wicker School. Upon motion of Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Commissioner Cooper, it was RESOLVED to request Mr. Midkiff to have the property rezoned for public use and to have the property appraised to ascertain what the selling price would be . Mr. Nathan Crissman, Tax Collector, appeared before the Board, and having reported the total amount of unpaid taxes for the current fiscal year, requested that the Board set the date for the sale of tax liens in accordance with G. S. 105-369. Upon motion of Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Commissioner Cooper, which motion was unanimously adopted, it,was RESOLVED that the tax lien sale shall be held on the first Monday in June of 1972. The Tax Collector was instructed to see that advertisement of said sale was made in accordance with the statute.
