C##s3 c fir, '0 MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY,, NORTH CAROLINA Monday,, May 1st, 1972 4 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County convened in the Commissioners' Room in the County office,huilding, corner of Steele Street and Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, on Monday, May 1st, 1972, at 10:00 o'clock a. m. Those present were Commissioners William H. Cooper, J., Eugene Rogers, Gordon A. Wicker and Chairman Franklin D, Wicker. Commissioner Perry White was absent. Chairman Franklin D. Wicker presided and the following business was transacted: K. R. Hoyle gave the invocation. The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held on April 17, 1972, were approved and ordered recorded. Commissioner William H. Cooper reported on a request for assistance in draining a low lying area south of Jonesboro Heights., Commissioner Cooper re- ported the State Highway Commissioner would do the work if the landowners would give their consent. Chairman Wicker directed the Clerk to write Commissioner William B. Joyce and request his assistance in getting Secondary Road 1303 resurfaced. Commissioner William H. Cooper reqported that Dunning, Ltd. and Borden Brick& Tile Company had requested utility services. Dr. Ben Brooks, Superintendent, and Chairman W. C.. Harward appeared before the Board and reviewed the requests for current expense and capital outlay for the Lee County School Administrative Unit. Superintendent Kenneth Brinson, Assistant Superintendent Jerry Seaman, Assistant Superintendnent Ernest Atkinson and Board Member Glen York, appeared before the Board and presented the budget requests for the Sanford City School Administrative unit.• The Board then.proceeded to open the' bid received for installation of overhead steel doors at the National Guard Armory. The bid was as follows: Crawford Door 'Sales Company $ 4,155. 91 This was the second bid taking on this item. The bid was taken under advisement. Mr. Sonny Baker, appeared before the Board and presented the revised budget request for the Recreation Department. Sheriff D. F. Holder appeared before the Board and presented the budget request for the operations of his department.
