MINUTES OF THE REGULAR <br />MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />JULY 3RD, 1972 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, convened in the Commissioners' Room in the County Office <br />Building in Sanford, North Carolina, at 9:30 o'clock a, m. , on the 3rd day of <br />July, 1972, in accordance with the motion of adjournment. Those present <br />were Commissioners William H. Cooper, J. Eugene Rogers, Perry White, <br />Gordon A. Wicker' and Chairman Franklin D. Wicker. The County Manager, <br />Robert Harris, was also present. <br />Chairman Franklin D. Wicker presided and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />of the County of Lee has investigated the condition of the <br />above described road which is now a part of the system of <br />roads maintained by the State Highway Commission, and <br />which is indicated in red on the attached map; and <br />WHEREAS, after careful considerationof the services <br />rendered by said road and the traffic demands of said county, <br />it is deemed necessary that said road be improved in order to <br />better serve the interests of the people of this county. <br />Commissioner William H. Cooper reported that the Board had <br />previously adopted resolutions adding the road to the new City of Sanford <br />sewerage treatment plant near Cumnock, to the State Maintained Secondary Road <br />System and requesting that the road be paved. The State Highway Commission <br />authorities have reported that they will not pave this road, however, they will <br />grade, drain and stabilize, the road if the County will request it and the funds for <br />this purpose be charged against Lee County's funds for Secondary Road construction. <br />Highway Commissioner Joyce. has assured Commissioner Cooper that the use of <br />such funds will not decrease the funds available for work in Lee County and on that <br />basis, Commissioner Cooper moved the adoption of the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS the Board of County Commissioners <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, and the.Board of <br />County Commissioners hereby approved and request that the <br />State Highway Commission make the following improvements <br />in the above described road: Grade, drain and stabilize road <br />into City of Sanford's sewerage treatment plant using funds <br />allocated to Lee County for secondary road construc tion. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon <br />a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Cooper moved the adoption of the following <br />resolution with respect to Cheshire Drive and Bryan Drive in Breezewood <br />Acres Subdivision: <br />
