A as <br />MINUTES-OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR <br />MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />OF THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, July,,17, 1972 <br />The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners <br />for the county of.Lee, convened in the County Office Building at the corner of <br />Steele and Wicker Streets in Sanford, at 9:30 o'clock a.'m., the same being the <br />time, date and place set out in the motion of adjournment, adopted' on Monday, <br />July 3rd, 1972. Those present were Commissioners W. H. Cooper, J. Eugene <br />Rogers, Perry: White, Gordon A. Wicker and Chairman Franklin D. Wicker. <br />Mr. Bob Harris, the County Manager, was also present. <br />Chairman Franklin D. Wicker presided and the following bus- <br />iness was transacted: <br />Mr. Frank Lewis, Representative of the North Carolina Associa- <br />tion of-County Commissioners, appeared before the Board and discussed the <br />provisions of the Federal Revenue Sharing Bill (HR 1413). Mr. Lewis explained <br />that Lee County would receive approximately $265, 000 from this program. Mr. <br />Lewis also reminded the Commissioners of the Association's convention to be <br />held in Pinehurst, North Carolina, on August 10 through 12. <br />Chairman Wicker brought up for discussion the program of the <br />Youth Development Commission; however, no formal action was taken at this <br />meeting. <br />The minutes of the meeting'held on July 3rd, 1972, were approved <br />upon motion of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Cooper, and <br />unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Harold Winstead appeared before the Board and presented <br />a petition requesting that the road known as the "Harold Winstead Road" between <br />Secondary Road. 1148 and Secondary Road 1126 be added to the State System for <br />maintenance. Mr. Winstead explained that he had had the road paved and the <br />paving had been inspected and certified to have met State Highway Commission's <br />specifications. <br />Commissioner Cooper moved the adoption of the following reso- <br />lution: <br />WHEREAS, that the attached petition has been filed <br />with the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee <br />requesting that the above described road, the location of which <br />has been indicated in red on the attached map, be added to the <br />Secondary Road System; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is; <br />of the opinion that the above described road should be added <br />to the Secondary Road System, if the road meets minimum <br />standards and criteria established by the State Highway Comm- <br />ission for the addition of roads to the System. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of <br />County Commissioners of the County of Lee, that the State <br />Highway Commission is hereby requested to review the <br />above described road, and fo take over the road for mainte- <br />nance if it meets established standards and criteria. <br />
