A as MINUTES-OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA Monday, July,,17, 1972 The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the county of.Lee, convened in the County Office Building at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in Sanford, at 9:30 o'clock a.'m., the same being the time, date and place set out in the motion of adjournment, adopted' on Monday, July 3rd, 1972. Those present were Commissioners W. H. Cooper, J. Eugene Rogers, Perry: White, Gordon A. Wicker and Chairman Franklin D. Wicker. Mr. Bob Harris, the County Manager, was also present. Chairman Franklin D. Wicker presided and the following bus- iness was transacted: Mr. Frank Lewis, Representative of the North Carolina Associa- tion of-County Commissioners, appeared before the Board and discussed the provisions of the Federal Revenue Sharing Bill (HR 1413). Mr. Lewis explained that Lee County would receive approximately $265, 000 from this program. Mr. Lewis also reminded the Commissioners of the Association's convention to be held in Pinehurst, North Carolina, on August 10 through 12. Chairman Wicker brought up for discussion the program of the Youth Development Commission; however, no formal action was taken at this meeting. The minutes of the meeting'held on July 3rd, 1972, were approved upon motion of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Cooper, and unanimously adopted. Mr. Harold Winstead appeared before the Board and presented a petition requesting that the road known as the "Harold Winstead Road" between Secondary Road. 1148 and Secondary Road 1126 be added to the State System for maintenance. Mr. Winstead explained that he had had the road paved and the paving had been inspected and certified to have met State Highway Commission's specifications. Commissioner Cooper moved the adoption of the following reso- lution: WHEREAS, that the attached petition has been filed with the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee requesting that the above described road, the location of which has been indicated in red on the attached map, be added to the Secondary Road System; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is; of the opinion that the above described road should be added to the Secondary Road System, if the road meets minimum standards and criteria established by the State Highway Comm- ission for the addition of roads to the System. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee, that the State Highway Commission is hereby requested to review the above described road, and fo take over the road for mainte- nance if it meets established standards and criteria.
