BOOK 8 PACE 128 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, September 18, 1972 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County <br />North Carolina, convened on Monday, September 18, 1972, in the Commissioners' <br />Room of the County Office Building, at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets <br />in the City of Sanford. Those present were: Commissioners W. H. Cooper, <br />Gordon Wicker, and Chairman Franklin D. Wicker. County Manager Robert Harris <br />was also present. Chairman Franklin D. Wicker presided. Commissioners Perry White <br />and J. Eugene Rogers joined the meeting after the reading and approval of the <br />minutes. The following business was transacted. <br />The minutes of the adjourned meeting held on September 5, 1972 were <br />approved upon motion by Commissioner Cooper, seconded by Commissioner Gordon Wicker. <br />Those voting aye were Commissioners Cooper, Wicker, and Chairman Wicker. Those <br />voting nay none. <br />Commissioner Cooper presented for the Board's consideration a road <br />petition (SR-1323). The petition requested that .8 tenths of one mile located on <br />SR-1323 be placed on the State Secondary Road System and improved. Those signing <br />the petition were Messrs Dean C. Wakefield, Everett Williams, Andrew Palmer, and <br />Ms. Catherine Woodward. Commissioner Cooper made a motion that the petition be <br />accepted. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Gordon Wicker. Those voting in <br />favor of the acceptance of the road petition were Commissioners Cooper, Wicker, and <br />Chairman Wicker. <br />Mr. W. T. Proctor, County Supervisor, Farmers Home Administration <br />appeared before the Board to present his annual agency report which is as follows: <br />Number <br />1. He stated that he could secure the services of a temporary typist <br />from Central Carolina Technical Institute at a cost of $6.00 per week or $312, per <br />year. The temporary typist would work in Mr. Proctors office approximately 15 <br />hours per week, Commissioner Gordon Wicker made a motion to allow Mr. Proctor to <br />hire the additional help. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cooper. There <br />being no further discussion, the motion was carried on a roll call vote. <br />Mr. Proctor expressed his appreciation to the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners for their past assistance and cooperation and in turn, the Board <br />expressed its appreciation to Mr. Proctor for the very fine job he and his agency <br />has done for Lee County. <br />
