sooq $ vacr 144 0 <br />MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />MONDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 1972 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, <br />North Carolina, convened on Monday, November 6, 1972, in the Commissioners' <br />Room of the County Office Building, at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets <br />in the City of Sanford, in accordance with the motion of adjournment. Those <br />present were: Commissioners J. Eugene Rogers, Perry White, Gordon A. Wicker, <br />W. H. Cooper, and Chairman Franklin D. Wicker. County Manager Robert R. Harris <br />and Mr. E. M. Underwood, Jr. were also present. Chairman Franklin D. Wicker <br />presided, and the following business was transacted: <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on October 16, 1972 were <br />discussed. Commissioner Gordon Wicker made a motion to approve the minutes <br />and the motion was seconded by Commissioner White. The minutes were approved <br />and ordered recorded. <br />Commissioner Gordon Wicker made a motion to approve the bills as <br />presented. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cooper and unanimously carried. <br />Mr. Pearson Stewart, Executive Director, Region J Council of Government <br />appeared before'the Board to answer questions regarding the County's participation <br />in a comprehensive health planning council. Mr. Stewart explained to the Board that <br />the Central Carolina Health Planning Council of North Carolina was not a division of <br />the Region J Council of Government, but an independent organization made up of a number <br />of governmental jurisdictions. He further stated that most countys in North Carolina <br />do belong to a comprehensive health planning council, and recommended that the Lee <br />County Board of Commissioners give consideration to becoming a member of the Central <br />Carolina Health Planning Council of North Carolina. <br />Commissioner Perry White explained briefly what actions had been taken to <br />date regarding the County's participation in comprehensive health planning. After <br />additional discussion, the Board directed the County Manager to contact the Executive <br />Director of the Central Carolina Health Planning Council of North Carolina and to <br />invite him to the next meeting of the Board. <br />Two (2) Road Petitions were presented for the Board's consideration. They <br />are as follows: <br />1. Request for addition to State Maintained Secondary Road System-Hope Street, <br />Kings Road, and Carr Creek Road lying in Carr Creek Estates. <br />2. Request for addition to State Maintained Secondary Road System-seven-tenths <br />(.7) of one mile of State Road #1428. <br />Commissioner Cooper made a motion to accept the petitions which was seconded <br />by Commissioner Rogers. The motion was unanimously carried. <br />Commissioner White suggested that the County Manager discuss with the City the <br />possibility of installing some type of caution light at the Rescue Squad Building. <br />The Board discussed the matter of covering the four (4) new cars to be pur- <br />chased for the Sheriff's Department and the County's new Sanitation Truck and Pick-Up <br />truck under collision insurance. <br />The Board agreed that these vehicles should be covered with collision insurance. <br />-1- <br />
