,2vIS-1e <br />LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />PROCLAMATION <br />"PAINT THE TOWN PURPLE" <br />WHEREAS, the American Cancer Society is the largest, non-governmental investor contributing <br />about $3.4 billion to cancer research; and, <br />WHEREAS, the American Cancer Society offers communities an opportunity to show their <br />support in the fight against cancer by participating in an event entitled, "Paint the Town Purple" <br />from May 1-11, 2015; and, <br />WHEREAS, to show their support in the fight against cancer, communities can Paint the Town <br />Purple, by donating to the Relay for Life and displaying decorative purple bows inside or outside <br />their homes or businesses, erecting purple -themed displays in store fronts, or encouraging <br />everyone to wear the color purple; and, <br />WHEREAS, money raised during Relay for Life of Lee County supports the American Cancer <br />society's mission of saving lives and creating a world with less cancer and more birthdays; and, <br />WHEREAS, donations support the fight against cancer through research and development of <br />cancer prevention, treatment and cures, promoting early detection, and offering support during <br />and after a cancer diagnosis, so that more Americans can celebrate another birthday; and, <br />WHEREAS, the American Cancer Society funded more than $150 million in cancer research last <br />year through money raised in communities across the Unites States. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lee County Board of Commissioner's does <br />hereby proclaim May 1, 2015 through May 11, 2015, as "Paint the Town Purple" days in Lee <br />County and encourages all citizens to participate in activities during that week. <br />Adopted this the 4"' day of May 2015. <br />Amy .
