LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />RESOLUTION TO DISSOLVE THE ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW AND ADVISORY COMMITTEE AND <br />CREATE A JOINT ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS BOARD WITH REPRESENTATIVES FROM LEE <br />COUNTY, THE CITY OF SANFORD, AND THE TOWN OF BROADWAY <br />WHEREAS, N.C. Gen. Stat. § 153A-76 gives a County Board of Commissioners authority to create and <br />abolish committees and boards of the county government; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Environmental Affairs Board was created in July 1988 and served the citizens of Lee <br />County for over 25 years; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners dissolved the Environmental Affairs Board on March 1, 2013, <br />from action taken at their regular meeting on January 7, 2013, and created in its place the <br />Environmental Review and Advisory Committee ("ERAC"); and, <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Lee County Board of Commissioners to dissolve ERAC and, in an <br />effort to avoid duplication and unify the strong team of advisors from both ERAC and the Sanford <br />Environmental Affairs Board, to create a joint Environmental Affairs Board with representatives from <br />Lee County, the City of Sanford and the Town of Broadway. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lee County Board of Commissioners as follows: <br />1. The Environmental Review and Advisory Board (ERAC) is hereby dissolved, effective May 1, <br />2015. <br />2. All current ERAC appointees shall be automatically appointed to serve on the joint <br />Environmental Affairs Board until their original ERAC terms expire. <br />3. The Environmental Affairs Board is hereby created, effective May 1, 2015, and shall be <br />comprised of representatives of the County of Lee, the City of Sanford, and the Town of <br />Broadway, as further described in the Environmental Affairs Board By -Laws. <br />Adopted this day of 2015. <br />ATT ST: <br />ayn�ILee, Clerk to e', Board <br />Amy M. balrymple, Chair <br />Lee County Board of Commissioners <br />
