BOOK O PACE 251 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, July 16, 1973 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for <br />Lee County convened in the Commissioner's Room of the County <br />Office Building at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in <br />Sanford, North Carolina, at 7:00 o'clock P.M. on Monday, July <br />16, 1973• Those present were Commissioners William H. Cooper, <br />J. Eugene Rogers, Franklin D. Wicker, and Gordon A. Wicker. <br />Commissioner Hal L. Hancock was absent due to the untimely <br />death of his mother. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker presided and the <br />following business was transacted: <br />Meeting was opened by prayer given by the Clerk. <br />Commissioner William H. Cooper reported on the quest <br />of the Sanford Jaycees on the road beautification project. <br />The results of the public sale held on the New Hope <br />School Property was reported to the Commissioners. Mr. Oscar <br />Keller, Jr., was the high bidder at the price of $15,000.00. <br />After discussion, Commissioner William H. Cooper moved that the <br />bid be rejected. The motion was seconded by Commissioner J. <br />Eugene Rogers and upon a vote, the motion was unanimously <br />adopted. The County Finance Officer was instructed to advise <br />Mr. Keller his bid was rejected and to return his deposit. <br />Commissioner J. Eugene Rogers was directed to determine <br />if use of the New Hope Property could be made by any of the <br />public agencies of the County. <br />
