® BOOK H PACE 255 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />Monday, August 6, 1973 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for <br />Lee County convened in the Commissioner's Room of the County <br />Office Building at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in <br />Sanford, North Carolina, at 9:30 o'clock A.M. on Monday, <br />August 6, 1973. Those present were Commissioners William H. <br />Cooper, Hal L. Hancock, J. Eugene Rogers, Franklin D. Wicker, <br />and Gordon A. Wicker. None of the Commissioners were absent. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />The minutes of the meeting of July 16, 1973, were <br />approved and ordered recorded upon motion of Commissioner Rogers, <br />seconded by Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, which motion was <br />unanimously adopted. The monthly bills as tabulated by the <br />County Accountant were distributed and discussed. <br />Mrs. Mary Alice Holmes, Chairman, and Mr. Paul <br />Barringer, Jr., member of the Sanford-Lee County Board of <br />Education, appeared before the Board and presented various <br />requests for consideration by the Board.. The requests and the <br />action taken were as follows: <br />(A) The Board of Education desires to relocate the <br />school garage and school bus storage area at the Jonesboro <br />Middle School. The Board desires that water and sewer lines be <br />extended to the Jonesboro Middle School and Assistant Superintendent <br />Ernest Atkinson and Mr. Robert Bracken, Jr., of Pate & Mullins, <br />Architects, appeared with respect to this request. After <br />discussion of this request, Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker <br />
