Tr <br />Bann 9 Pnr?_$5 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />Monday, October 15, 1973 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for <br />Lee County, convened in the Commissioners' Room of the Lee County Office <br />Building, at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in Sanford, North <br />Carolina, at 7:00 o'clock p. m. , on Monday, October 15th, 1973. Those <br />present were Commissioners, William H. Cooper, Hal L. Hancock, Franklin <br />D. Wicker and Gordon A. Wicker. Commissioner J. Eugene Rogers was <br />absent. The Chairman declared a quorum present, and the meeting opened <br />for business. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following <br />busi ness was transacted: <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on Monday, October <br />1, 1973, were considered and upon motion of Commissioner Hancock, seconded <br />by Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker and unanimously adopted, the minutes of <br />the said meeting were ordered recorded. <br />Commissioner Hancock made inquiry to find out if Secondary <br />Road 1503 was included on the list of roads for improvement and was advised <br />that it was. <br />The Commissioners next considered a petition requesting <br />the addition to the State Maintained Highway System of a road approximately <br />one-half'mile in length off of Secondary Road 1543. Commissioner Cooper <br />moved that the following resolution be adopted: <br />WHEREAS, the attached petition has <br />been filed with the Board of County Commissioners <br />of the County of Lee, requesting that the above <br />described road, the location of which has been in- <br />dicated in red on the attached map, be added to the <br />Secondary Road System; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Comm- <br />issioners is of the opinion that the above described <br />road should be added to the Secondary Road System, if the <br />road meets minimum standards and criteria established <br />by the Division of Highways of the Department of <br />Transportation and Highway Safety for the addition of <br />roads to the System. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the <br />Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee, <br />that the Division of Highways is hereby requested to <br />review the above described road, and to take over the <br />road for maintenance if it meets established standards <br />and criteria. <br />
