BOOK 8 PACE 300 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />0-1 1, <br />Monday, December 3, 1973 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for <br />Lee County, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners Room on the <br />second floor of the County Office Building, at the corner of Steele and <br />Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford, at 9:30 o'clock a. m., on Monday, <br />December 3rd, 1973. Those present were Commissioners William H. <br />Cooper, Hal L. Hancock, J. Eugene Rogers, Franklin D. Wicker and <br />Gordon A. Wicker. None of the Commissioners were absent. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by the Reverend Bob Brown. <br />The minutes of the November 19, 1973 meeting were considered <br />and upon motion of Commissioner Eugene Rogers, seconded by Commissioner <br />Cooper, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED to adopt the draft of said <br />minutes as and for the minutes of said meeting and same were ordered recorded. <br />Commissioner Cooper made a motion to accept the schedule of <br />priority roads (copy attached) as presented by Mr. Cecil Budd, State Highway <br />Commissioner. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Hancock and <br />unanimously adopted, upon a vote. <br />The Board next considered the holidays to be observed over <br />the Christmas Season, and it was RESOLVED to close the County Offices on <br />Monday through Wednesday, December 24,, 25 and 26. The motion was made <br />by Commissioner Hancock, seconded by Commissioner Rogers, and unanimously <br />adopted. <br />The Chairman was authorized to provide for a suitable program <br />for the distribution of Christmas Baskets to the County Employees on Friday, <br />December 21st, at 3:00 o'clock p. m., at the Courthouse. <br />Commissioner Franklin D.. Wicker offered a resolution honoring <br />Mr. O. T. Sloan, for his generous gift to the County and to recreation, in <br />particular, and to Mr. N. V. Keith for his work on the Recreation Foundation. <br />Commissioner Rogers seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />Mr. W. T. Proctor, Supervisor, Farmer's Home Adminis- <br />tration, appeared before the Board and reported on the activities of his office. <br />1 Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that $100. 00 be <br />appropriated from the Emergency and Contingency in the General Fund for the <br />purpose of acquiring a part-time secretary for the Farmer's Home Adminis- <br />tration office. Commissioner Cooper seconded the motion and upon a roll call <br />vote, the Commissioners voted as follows: <br />
