BOOK 8 PACE 300 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA 0-1 1, Monday, December 3, 1973 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County Office Building, at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford, at 9:30 o'clock a. m., on Monday, December 3rd, 1973. Those present were Commissioners William H. Cooper, Hal L. Hancock, J. Eugene Rogers, Franklin D. Wicker and Gordon A. Wicker. None of the Commissioners were absent. Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following business was transacted: The invocation was given by the Reverend Bob Brown. The minutes of the November 19, 1973 meeting were considered and upon motion of Commissioner Eugene Rogers, seconded by Commissioner Cooper, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED to adopt the draft of said minutes as and for the minutes of said meeting and same were ordered recorded. Commissioner Cooper made a motion to accept the schedule of priority roads (copy attached) as presented by Mr. Cecil Budd, State Highway Commissioner. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Hancock and unanimously adopted, upon a vote. The Board next considered the holidays to be observed over the Christmas Season, and it was RESOLVED to close the County Offices on Monday through Wednesday, December 24,, 25 and 26. The motion was made by Commissioner Hancock, seconded by Commissioner Rogers, and unanimously adopted. The Chairman was authorized to provide for a suitable program for the distribution of Christmas Baskets to the County Employees on Friday, December 21st, at 3:00 o'clock p. m., at the Courthouse. Commissioner Franklin D.. Wicker offered a resolution honoring Mr. O. T. Sloan, for his generous gift to the County and to recreation, in particular, and to Mr. N. V. Keith for his work on the Recreation Foundation. Commissioner Rogers seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. Mr. W. T. Proctor, Supervisor, Farmer's Home Adminis- tration, appeared before the Board and reported on the activities of his office. 1 Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that $100. 00 be appropriated from the Emergency and Contingency in the General Fund for the purpose of acquiring a part-time secretary for the Farmer's Home Adminis- tration office. Commissioner Cooper seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote, the Commissioners voted as follows:
