F/ <br />p <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE. NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday,. February 18, 1.974 , , <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee <br />County, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioner's Room on the second <br />floor of the County Office Building at the corner of Steele and'Wicker Streets <br />in the City of. Sanford at 7:30 o'clock a. m. , on Monday, February 18, 1974, <br />Those present were Commissioners William H. Cooper, Hal L. Hancock, J. Eugene <br />Rogers, Franklin D. Wicker and Gordon A. Wicker. None of the Commissioners <br />were absent. The Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting opened for <br />the transaction of business. <br />Chairman Gordon A.,. Wicker presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by Mr.. Kenneth R. Hoyle, Clerk to the <br />Board of Commissioners. <br />Mr. Cecil Budd, Commissioner, Mr. Henry Jordan, and Mr. Bill <br />Rosser, from the Division of Engineers of the Department of Transportation, appear- <br />ed before the Board. Mr. Jordan presented the priority list of the priority ratings <br />for secondary roads. The roads were reviewed with the representatives of,the Depart- <br />ment of Transportation and the priority list was in accordance with the exhibit attached <br />hereto. Upon resolution of the Board of Commissioners,' it was ordered that a copy of <br />the priority ratings be posted on the bulletin board at the Lee County Courthouse. <br />The minutes of the meeting held on Monday, February 4th, were <br />approved and ordered recorded, upon motion of Commissioner Rogers, seconded by <br />Commissioner F. Wicker, which motion was duly adopted. <br />There was a request for a refund of taxes by Mr. H. J. Goldston. <br />Mr. Clark, Tax Supervisor, stated that the, refund was in order, that the taxes had <br />been incorrectly listed. Upon motion of Commissioner Cooper, seconded by <br />Commissioner Rogers, which motion was unanimously adopted, it was resolved to <br />refund to Mr. H. J. Goldston, the sum of $41. 99, and the Tax Collector was authorized <br />and directed to make said refund. Messrs. Cooper, Hancock, Rogers, F. Wicker <br />and G. Wicker all voted for it. No one voted against it. <br />The Chairman called the Board's attention to the fact that there was <br />a vacancy on the Human Relations Council, which had been caused by the death of <br />Mr. John McIver. After discussion, Commissioner Cooper moved that Mr. John <br />Burch be appointed to the unexpired term of Mr. John McIver. Commissioner Hancock <br />sec±nded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Chairman advised the Board there would be a meeting in Raleigh <br />about the Energy Crisis on Thursday, February 21st. The Board authorized Mr. Billy <br />Ray Cameron, to attend said meeting on behalf of the County. <br />The Chairman reported that a letter had been received from Mr. <br />L. F. Meadow, Chairman of the Planning Board, outlining various recommendations <br />which had been presented to the Board at the last meeting. <br />
