OF..THE BOARD OF <br />COMMISSIONERS'FOR'.THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH`.CAROLINA <br />Monday, April 1,1974 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of, the Board of Commissioners <br />for Le'e..County, North Carolina,-..convened in..the Commissioners' <br />Room on the second .floor _of the.County.Office Building-.at the <br />corner.of Steele' and Wicker-Streets in.-the City. of Sanford at <br />9.:30.'.o'clock. A.M. on Monday, April 1, 1974• . Those present . <br />were Commissioners Hal L. Hancock, J. Eugene Rogers, Franklin <br />D. Wicker, and Gordon A., Wicker. Commissioner William H. <br />Cooper. was absent. due -to.his. having to: be out of town. The <br />Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting opened for <br />the :transaction of business. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />The minutes. ;of the regular meeting held on March 18, <br />1.974, were approved and ordered recorded. <br />The. Board then 'dis.cussed Sche'dule'B.license taxes:. <br />Commissioner. Rogers moved that the. budget. for the. coming fiscal <br />Year be prepared on a basis whichwould eliminate. the levy of <br />any license taxes except'`, those oni.marriage license,. palmistry, <br />and beer and wines-. Commissioner:Hancook:seconded the motion <br />and upon a roll call: vote,: Messrs.: Hancock, Rogers, F.' Wicker., <br />and G. Wicker voted for it.and no one .voted against it. <br />The Chairman stated the Board needed to-set a date. <br />for its~ hearing as a Board of Equalization and Review.. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker. moved that May 6, 19,74, be set. <br />as date,for meeting of the Board of Equalization and Review... <br />Commissioner J. Eugene Rogers seconded the motion and.upon a <br />vote, ;it.was unanimously adopted. <br />
