MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING: OF. THE BOARD, OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH :CAROLINA Tuesday, April. 16, 3.974 . The regular meeting of the- Board of Commissioners for Lee County, North Carolina, convened in.the Commissioner.'s Room on the second floor of .the..County.Office:Building at the: :corner of Steele and Wicker: Streets. in the City. of Sanford .at;7:00.o'clock p, m. on Tuesday, April 16, 19.74.: Those present were Co'mmisaioners William H. Cooper, J. Eugene. Rogers, and Gordon A. Wicker. Those absent when the meeting started were Commissioners Hal L. Hancock and Franklin D. Wicker... The Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting opened for the transaction of business. Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the.following business was,t.ransacted: Upon motion,of•.COmmissioner,Rogers seconded by. Commissioner Cooper. and unanimously adopted, it was resolved to approve.:the'ininutes'of the.-meeting held on Monday,. April.l, 1.974,. and,ta order the same re-cordeds. Commissioner'William H.` Cooper discussed with the Board various matters relating to.the.ambulance service operated by the County.." Commissioner, Franklin: D. Wicker joined the meeting and parti'cipate'd in. the, `furth:er- deliberations of the' Board. Mrs. Faye.Page, Elwin Buchanan, and Rev. Charles J. Chalmers 'appe'ared before the Board and discussed the possibility of employment of Mrs. Page to assist on matters pertaining to the Triangle. Housing Development Corporation's- activities. in Lee County.. During this. discussion; Commissioner Hal L. Hancock joined the meeting and participated.in the further: deliberations of the Board. No action was taken upon this request.. Mr. Derrell Mullins_ o,f.„.the..;fi'rm of Pate Mullins, Architects:. appeared before the Board and exhibited plans for the renovation and alteration ;of the-Seaboard Depot,for use by. the Senior Citizens. Cnairman Gordon A. Wicker designated Commissioner. William H. Cooper to be. in charge of this building. The Chairman reported to the-Board that he had received a let:ter:,.from the National Guard authorities: and the.Board authorized the employment of a surveyor to. lay :off the site.. for the proposed armory building. The Chairman reported that he had received a request' .from the Central Carolina Technical Institute..Trustees that the County.sell the.bonds authorized for that institution. The Clerk was instructed to. consult with the local Government Commission concerning this matter.
