J <br />bow 8 f=353 <br />0 i <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, May 20, 1974 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners <br />for Lee County, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioner's <br />Room on the second floor of the County.Office Building at <br />the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of <br />Sanford at:7:00 o'clock p.m. on Monday, May 20, 1974. Those <br />present were Commissioners William H. Cooper, Hal L. Hancock, <br />and Gordon A. Wicker. Commissioners J. Eugene Rogers and <br />Franklin D. Wicker were absent when the meeting convened. <br />The Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting <br />opened for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the <br />following business was transacted: <br />The meeting was opened by prayer given by the <br />Clerk, K. R. Hoyle. <br />A delegation from the Central Carolina Technical <br />Institute appeared before the Board to present the budget <br />request for that institution. Among those present and who <br />spoke on behalf of the budget request were President J. F. <br />Hockaday, and Trustees Stacy 0. Budd, Douglas Wilkinson, <br />J. Shelton Wicker, Meigs Golden, Clyde Rhyne, and Bob <br />Brickhouse. During the presentation of the CCTI budget <br />request, Commissioners J. Eugene Rogers and Franklin D. <br />Wicker joined the meeting and thereafter participated in <br />the further deliberations of the Board. <br />Representatives of the Board of Supervisors of <br />the Lee County Water & Soil Conservation District appeared <br />before the Board, presented information, and made a request <br />that Lee County make a county wide soil survey. <br />Commissioner William H. Cooper reported to the <br />Board that matching funds may be available for the purchase <br />of an ambulance and that he would pursue the matter and <br />report later on his findings. <br />There was a discussion about the space allocation <br />for the Board of Elections and the Chairman appointed <br />Commissioners J. Eugene Rogers and William H. Cooper to <br />investigate the needs of this agency and to report their <br />recommendations to the Board for its consideration. <br />
