~ • Ott:? ~ C~ ~ g <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />'MONDAY, OCTOBER 7, 1974. <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners <br />for the County of Lee, North Carolina, convened in the <br />Commissioners' room on the second floor of the County Office <br />Building.at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the <br />City of Sanford at 9:30 o'clock A.-M. on Monday, October 7th, <br />1974. Those present were Commissioners William H. Cooper, <br />Hal L. Hancock, J. Eugene Rogers, Franklin D. Wicker. and <br />Gordon'A.'Wicker: None of the Commissioners were absent. <br />The Chairman declared•a quorum was present and the meeting <br />opened for the transaction of business. <br />.`Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />The minute's of' sp'e'cial meeting held on September 27, <br />1974, were approved and ordered'recorded upon motion of <br />Commissioner Hancock seconded by Commissioner Rogers which , <br />motion was duly adopted. , <br />The.monthly bills as listed by the County Finance <br />Officer were considered and discussed. The bills were approved <br />for payment upon motion'of Commissioner Rogers', seconded by <br />Commissioner Cooper which was unanimously adopted. <br />j' Commissioner Rogers moved that the sum of $808.30 be <br />appropriated from the unappropriated surplus in the General Fund <br />to the Senior Citizens Program Fund ,to pay the expenses and <br />fee of counsel in going to Florida to negotiate with the Seaboard <br />Coast Line Railroad. <br />There was a general discussion about the poor mainte- <br />nance program being conducted by the Division of Highways on <br />the secondary road system in the County. <br />The clerk read a letter from.the Home Builders <br />Association of Sanford Area stating they would present their <br />recommendations about a building code within sixty days. <br />The Chairman called the Board's attention to a letter <br />directed to the Sanford City Manager relative to the certifi- <br />cation of step II for a federal grant in the amount of $112,500.00. <br />Commissioner Hal' L.Hancock related the discussion had concerning <br />the request of the Gulf-Goldston area for inclusion in the <br />Sanford area 201 facilities survey.. <br />
