~ • Ott:? ~ C~ ~ g MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA 'MONDAY, OCTOBER 7, 1974. The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' room on the second floor of the County Office Building.at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford at 9:30 o'clock A.-M. on Monday, October 7th, 1974. Those present were Commissioners William H. Cooper, Hal L. Hancock, J. Eugene Rogers, Franklin D. Wicker. and Gordon'A.'Wicker: None of the Commissioners were absent. The Chairman declared•a quorum was present and the meeting opened for the transaction of business. .`Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following business was transacted: The minute's of' sp'e'cial meeting held on September 27, 1974, were approved and ordered'recorded upon motion of Commissioner Hancock seconded by Commissioner Rogers which , motion was duly adopted. , The.monthly bills as listed by the County Finance Officer were considered and discussed. The bills were approved for payment upon motion'of Commissioner Rogers', seconded by Commissioner Cooper which was unanimously adopted. j' Commissioner Rogers moved that the sum of $808.30 be appropriated from the unappropriated surplus in the General Fund to the Senior Citizens Program Fund ,to pay the expenses and fee of counsel in going to Florida to negotiate with the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad. There was a general discussion about the poor mainte- nance program being conducted by the Division of Highways on the secondary road system in the County. The clerk read a letter from.the Home Builders Association of Sanford Area stating they would present their recommendations about a building code within sixty days. The Chairman called the Board's attention to a letter directed to the Sanford City Manager relative to the certifi- cation of step II for a federal grant in the amount of $112,500.00. Commissioner Hal' L.Hancock related the discussion had concerning the request of the Gulf-Goldston area for inclusion in the Sanford area 201 facilities survey..
