MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY MONDAY, NOVEMBER A th, 1974 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee convened in the Commissioners' room on the second floor of the County. Office Building at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets, in the City of Sanford at 9:30 o'clock A. M. on Monday, November 4th, 1974. Those present were Commissioners William H. Cooper, Hal L. Hancock, J. Eugene Rogers, Franklin D. Wicker and Gordon A Wicker. None of the Commissioners was absent. Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following business was transacted: The invocation was given by Reverend Howard Smith of the Jonesboro Presbyterian Church. The minutes of the meeting held on the 21st day of October 1974 were approved by the Board and ordered recorded upon motion of Commissioner Hancock, seconded by Commissioner Cooper, which motion was unanimously adopted. The tenth grade government class at Broadway School arrived and observed the meeting. Mr. Tom Haislip appeared before the Board and reminded them that the Sandhills Area Development Association would hold its annual meeting tonight. Chairman Gordon A. Wicker brought up for discussion the subject of the Federal Revenue Sharing Program. All of the commissioners expressed approval of the program and went on record favoring the continuance of it by the Federal Government. .The Clerk was requested to forward letters to Congressman David Henderson and Senator Jesse Helms to this effect. Each member of the Board gave a resume of his duties for the benefit of the class on government which was attending the session. The Chairman reported to the Board that the meeting on Legislative Goals for the North Carolina Association of County commissioners had been rescheduled for the 3d and 4th of December 1974, in 'Raleigh, North Carolina. Chairman Wicker reported that the Forest Practices Study Committee was holding a series of meetings throughout North Carolina to determine what, if any, legislation was needed concerning forestry practices and operations. Chairman Wicker reported that Tuesday, November 12th, 1974, at 1:30 o'clock P. M. a Flag Presentation by the North Carolina State Department of Public Instruction will officially dedicate.the St Clair Primary School as a Physical Education Administration Center, and all members of the board were invited to attend the ceremony.
