MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY <br />MONDAY, NOVEMBER A th, 1974 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee convened in the Commissioners' room on the second <br />floor of the County. Office Building at the corner of Steele and <br />Wicker Streets, in the City of Sanford at 9:30 o'clock A. M. on <br />Monday, November 4th, 1974. Those present were Commissioners <br />William H. Cooper, Hal L. Hancock, J. Eugene Rogers, Franklin D. <br />Wicker and Gordon A Wicker. None of the Commissioners was absent. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by Reverend Howard Smith of <br />the Jonesboro Presbyterian Church. <br />The minutes of the meeting held on the 21st day of October <br />1974 were approved by the Board and ordered recorded upon motion <br />of Commissioner Hancock, seconded by Commissioner Cooper, which <br />motion was unanimously adopted. <br />The tenth grade government class at Broadway School arrived <br />and observed the meeting. <br />Mr. Tom Haislip appeared before the Board and reminded them <br />that the Sandhills Area Development Association would hold its <br />annual meeting tonight. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker brought up for discussion the <br />subject of the Federal Revenue Sharing Program. All of the <br />commissioners expressed approval of the program and went on record <br />favoring the continuance of it by the Federal Government. .The <br />Clerk was requested to forward letters to Congressman David <br />Henderson and Senator Jesse Helms to this effect. <br />Each member of the Board gave a resume of his duties for <br />the benefit of the class on government which was attending the <br />session. <br />The Chairman reported to the Board that the meeting on <br />Legislative Goals for the North Carolina Association of County <br />commissioners had been rescheduled for the 3d and 4th of December <br />1974, in 'Raleigh, North Carolina. <br />Chairman Wicker reported that the Forest Practices Study <br />Committee was holding a series of meetings throughout North Carolina <br />to determine what, if any, legislation was needed concerning <br />forestry practices and operations. <br />Chairman Wicker reported that Tuesday, November 12th, <br />1974, at 1:30 o'clock P. M. a Flag Presentation by the North <br />Carolina State Department of Public Instruction will officially <br />dedicate.the St Clair Primary School as a Physical Education <br />Administration Center, and all members of the board were invited <br />to attend the ceremony. <br />
