440 <br />1 <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE <br />COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, February 3, 1975 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for <br />Lee County, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' Room on the <br />second floor of the County Office Building, at the corner of Steele and Wicker <br />Streets in the City of Sanford, North Carolina, on Monday, February 3, 1975, <br />at 9:30 o?clock a. m. Those present for the meeting were Commissioners <br />John E. Dotterer;, William H. Cooper, Hal L. Hancock, Franklin D. Wicker <br />and Gordon A. Wicker. The Chairman declared a quorum present and meeting <br />open for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />The meeting was opened by a prayer given by Reverend James <br />Hampton, Pastor of the Blandonia Presbyterian Church, Sanford, North Carolina. <br />The minutes of the meetings held on January 6, and 20, 1975, <br />were approved and ordered recorded, upon motion of Commissioner Hal L. <br />Hancock, seconded by Commissioner John E. Dotterer, which motion was unan- <br />imously adopted. <br />Commissioner Hal L. Hancock reported to the Board on a <br />meeting which he and Chairman Gordon A. Wicker had with Messrs. Budd,Jordan <br />and other highway officials, concerning keeping the highway offices in Lee County <br />open and fully staffed. <br />The list of the monthly bills were distributed to the members of <br />the Board for their consideration at this time. <br />Commissioner Hal L. Hancock moved that the Board authorize <br />Superintendent Hugh Brewer, to purchase five additional chairs for use in the <br />Superior Courtroom at the Lee County Courthouse. Commissioner John E. <br />Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner William H. Cooper reported to the Board on the <br />work being done by Pate-Mullins, at the Seaboard Coastline Railroad Passenger <br />Station. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that the sum of <br />$10, 000. 00, be appropriated from the unappropriated surplus in the General Fund <br />to the Maintenance Fund for the purpose of purchasing the material and providing <br />work for the repair of the Seaboard Coastline Passenger Station. Commissioner <br />Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote, Messrs. <br />Dotterer, Cooper, Hancock, F. Wicker and G. Wicker all voted for it and no one <br />voted against it. The Chairman declared the motion carried. <br />The Board directed that the Bi-Centennial Commission for the <br />County be requested to appear at the next meeting of the Board and present a <br />proposed budget for their program. <br />
