'tea MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA Monday, March 3rd, 1975 #~k~TT*>k~k~k>k~,<>kTm#~'r#~>kX<X;*>k~=~=T:r'= ~ ~~~~~~~~=~~•T ~':#r~ ~~°~a:>',:m~ a=-XT~:~';%k~= ~~TT'~#~k>kT=; Tn: The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' Room`on the second floor of the County Office Building, 201 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at 9:30 o'clock A. M., on Monday, March 3rd, 1975. Commissioners William H. Cooper, John E. Dotterer, Hal L. Hancock, and Gordon A. Wicker were present. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker was absent when the meeting opened. The Chairman declared a quorum was present and the meeting was open for the transaction of business. . Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following business was transacted. The minutes of the meeting held on February 17, 1975, were approved and ordered recorded upon motion of Commissioner Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner Cooper, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote. Commissioner Hal L. Hancock reported the Department of Transportation personnel were fixing the road to Euphronia Church. The Chairman was authorized to execute the contract employing John C. Muse & Company, as auditors, upon motion of Commissioner Cooper, seconded by Commissioner Dotterer, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker joined the meeting and-participated in the further deliberations of the Board. Commissioner William H. Cooper reported on the. application made to obtain a grant to purchase an ambulance. Commissioner Cooper moved that the ,Board authorize the submission of a new application for the maximum amount permissable. Commissioner Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a note it was unanimously adopted. Mr. Tom Haislip, Agricultural Extension Chairman, appeared before the Board and reported that funds were available to employ one additional worker for one year and thereafter funds would be available for the State portion of the salary for the position. After discussion, Commissioner Hancock moved that the Agricultural Extension Department be authorized to employ a Home Economist for one year. Commissioner Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. The Board next took up discussion of pending legislation which related to taxation by local governments. Upon motion of Commissioner Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner Franklin Wicker, the Board unanimously resolved to support H 252-5188 'which regulates motor vehicle tax listing. By a majority vote of three to two, the, Board resolved to support H 255-S190 which allows a personal property exemption on local taxes.
