'tea <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, March 3rd, 1975 <br />#~k~TT*>k~k~k>k~,<>kTm#~'r#~>kX<X;*>k~=~=T:r'= ~ ~~~~~~~~=~~•T ~':#r~ ~~°~a:>',:m~ a=-XT~:~';%k~= ~~TT'~#~k>kT=; Tn: <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' Room`on <br />the second floor of the County Office Building, 201 Wicker Street, Sanford, <br />North Carolina, at 9:30 o'clock A. M., on Monday, March 3rd, 1975. <br />Commissioners William H. Cooper, John E. Dotterer, Hal L. Hancock, and <br />Gordon A. Wicker were present. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker was <br />absent when the meeting opened. The Chairman declared a quorum was present <br />and the meeting was open for the transaction of business. <br />. Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following business <br />was transacted. <br />The minutes of the meeting held on February 17, 1975, were <br />approved and ordered recorded upon motion of Commissioner Dotterer, seconded <br />by Commissioner Cooper, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote. <br />Commissioner Hal L. Hancock reported the Department of Transportation <br />personnel were fixing the road to Euphronia Church. <br />The Chairman was authorized to execute the contract employing John C. <br />Muse & Company, as auditors, upon motion of Commissioner Cooper, seconded by <br />Commissioner Dotterer, which motion was unanimously adopted upon a vote. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker joined the meeting and-participated <br />in the further deliberations of the Board. <br />Commissioner William H. Cooper reported on the. application made to <br />obtain a grant to purchase an ambulance. Commissioner Cooper moved that the <br />,Board authorize the submission of a new application for the maximum amount <br />permissable. Commissioner Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a note it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Tom Haislip, Agricultural Extension Chairman, appeared before the <br />Board and reported that funds were available to employ one additional worker for <br />one year and thereafter funds would be available for the State portion of the salary for <br />the position. After discussion, Commissioner Hancock moved that the Agricultural <br />Extension Department be authorized to employ a Home Economist for one year. <br />Commissioner Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />The Board next took up discussion of pending legislation which related to <br />taxation by local governments. Upon motion of Commissioner Dotterer, seconded <br />by Commissioner Franklin Wicker, the Board unanimously resolved to support <br />H 252-5188 'which regulates motor vehicle tax listing. By a majority vote of three <br />to two, the, Board resolved to support H 255-S190 which allows a personal property <br />exemption on local taxes. <br />
