EGuK` O' PAGE493 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />LEE' COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, June 2, 1975 <br />The `regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County`of Lee, met in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County <br />Office Building,, 201 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at 9:30 o'clock <br />a, M. , on Monday, June,2,' 1975: Commissioners' William H. Cooper, John E. <br />Dotterer, Hal f. Hancock and Gordon A. Wicker, were present. Commissioner <br />Franklin D. Wicker was absent when the meeting opened. <br />- R <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by the Reverend Fred Pleasants, Pastor <br />of the Hillview Penecostal Free Will Baptist Church. <br />The minutes of the meeting held on May 19, 1975, were <br />considered and approved and upon motion of Commissioner John E. Dotterer, <br />seconded by Commissioner William H. Cooper, which motion was unanimously <br />adopted. ' <br />There was,a. general discussion concerning roads and the lack <br />of funds for maintenance work in Lee County. <br />Mr. Tom Haislip, Agricultural Extension Chairman, appeared <br />before the Board and presented a written report on the activities of his Department <br />and discussed the Budget Request on behalf of the Extension Department and the <br />proposed renovation of the Courthouse Annex Building.' <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker joined the meeting and <br />participated in the further deliberations of the Board. <br />The Board next considered requests for refunds of taxes which <br />were presented by the Tax Supervisor. First, was the written request'on behalf <br />of Carolina Trace Corporationfor refund of. taxes in the. amount of $161. 66, on <br />Condominium No. 41A,.which was double listed both to the Carolina Trace Corporatic <br />and to Charles. Casper, the true owner. Both parties have paid the taxes assessed <br />on thtis property. Upon motion of Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, seconded <br />by Commissioner William H. Cooper, it was resolved to relieve Carolina Trace <br />from any liability on the listing of said property and to authorize and direct the <br />County Tax Collector to refund to said corporation the amount of $161.. 66. Upon <br />a roll call vote, Messrs. Cooper, Dotterer, Hancock,. F'., Wicker and G. Wicker <br />all voted for it and no one voted,against it. The second request was from The <br />Sanford Daily Herald. for relief in whole or.in.part for tax liability on inventories <br />of -news print which had not been listed for taxes in the years 1970 through 1975. <br />The Tax Supervisor had ascertained the amount of news print on hand at the <br />
