`i <br />BCDM,'PasE+ <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday,, June 16, 1975 <br />• <br />The regular meeting of the-Board of•Corrimissioiner!s'for the <br />County of Lee, met in the Commissioners'ROom on the second floor of the County <br />Office Building, 201 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at 7:0,01 o'clock <br />p, m. , on Monday, June 16, 1975. -Commissioners William H. Cooper,' Hal L. <br />Hancock and Gordon A. Wicker were present. Commissioners John ;E. Dotterer <br />and:Franklin D. Wicker were absent when the meeting opened. The Chairman <br />declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on Monday, June 2nd: <br />1975, were approved, upon motion of Commissioner Hancock, seconded by <br />Commissioner Cooper, which motion was unanimously. adopted. <br />The Chairman'acknowledged receipt of a note of appreciation ' <br />from Miss Mary Estelle Doyle,` former Home Economist Agent,' for the participation <br />of the Board in the ceremony honoring her at Peace College. <br />The Chairman had read to the Board, a request from, the <br />Jury Commission requesting more compensation for their services. No formal <br />action was taken upon this request. <br />The roster of'the membership of the Tramway Rural Fire Depart- <br />ment was circulated among the-members of the Board of Commissioners. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. ;Wicker joined the meeting and partici- <br />pated in the further deliberations of the Board. <br />Commissioner William H: Cooper moved the adoption of the <br />following resolution, with respect to Dr. O; David Garvin: . <br />L) <br />WHEREAS, the counties of Orange, Person, <br />Caswell, Chatham, and Lee, comprising the District Health <br />Department, have been served by the able and dedicated <br />leadership of District Health Director, Dr. O..'David Garvin-,,- <br />for thirty years and nine months; and, <br />WHEREAS, Dr. O. David Garvin has been <br />instrumental in the initiation and development of such <br />innovative programs as the Home Health Service,. Multi- <br />phasic Screening,. Glaucoma Clinics, and Cancer Detection <br />Service; and, <br />WHEREAS, Dr. Garvin has provide&the District. <br />with excellent and sound financial management for the more <br />than thirty years' of his tenure; and, <br />
