MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA Monday, July 21, '1975 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, met in the Commissioners' Room on the second floor of the County Office Building, 201 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at 7:00 O'clock p. m. , on Monday, July 21, 1975. Commissioners William H. Cooper, John E. Dotterer, Franklin D. Wicker and, Gordon A. Wicker were present. Commissioner Hal L. Hancock was absent. Chairman Gordon A. Wicker declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following business was transacted: The minutes of the July 7, 1975 meeting were read and approved and ordered recorded: The roster of the personnel of the Deep River Fire Department, Route 5, Sanford, North Carolina, were presented to the Board for their approval.- Upon motion of Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, seconded by Commissioner William H. Cooper, it was resolved to approve the list as submitted and to certify the list as a true and accurate list of the firemen of the Deep River Fire Department to, the North Carolina Firemen's Pension Fund Division of the Department of State Auditor. The Chairman called for cons ide;ation for~appointment's•to the Park and Recreation Commission to fill the vacancy of Don Buie, to be effective July 31st. After discussion, Commissioner~William H.- C6oper,'rnoved, that Mr. Glenn W. Griffin be appointed to the Lee County Parks and,R'ecreatiori Commission to fill the vacancy created by the resignation'of Mr." Don Buie and to.s-erve for the unexpired term of Mr. Buie to and until `his'successor is appointed and qualifies. Commissioner Dotte'rer seconded''the'motion•,and upon `a vote,it.was unanimously adopted. Upon motion of Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, duly seconded by Commissioner Cooper, which motion was unanimously adopted; it was resolved to employ the firm of-Pate-Mullins and Associates, to prepare specifications for air-conditioning the jail. Mr. Elwin Buchanan appeared before the Board and gave a report on the activities concerning making application for a grant for the install- ation of the sewer line to the Allis-Chalmers Industrial Site. Following this report, Commissioner John E. Dotterer moved that Mr. Elwin Buchanan be appointed the Director of the Community Development Program for Lee County. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted.
