MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, November 17, 1975 <br />r, r r r r r r vm ~mic~;c Y,c i=%i~ ~m ~=r r r r r r ~~c:~:r:;,;;,: r r <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, Stage of North Carooina, convened in the Commissioners Room <br />on the second floor'of the County Office Building,at 7:00 o'clock p, m„ on <br />Monday, November 17, 1975. Those present were Commissioners William H. <br />Cooper, John E..Dotterer, Hal L.. Hancock,,, and Franklin D. .Wicker, Chairman <br />Gordon A, Wicker was absent due to his attendance at.a'meeting in Washington, <br />D. C,, on Revenue Sharing on behalf of the-County. <br />Vice-Chairman Hal L. Hancock presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />Reverend V. E. Miller gave the invocation, <br />Vice-Chairman Hancock stated that the first item on the agenda <br />was a'public hearing on suggested' community development projects. Commissioner <br />William H. Cooper moved that the public-hearing be opened, Commissioner John <br />E. Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted, The <br />Vice-Chairman then declared the meeting open and invited all interested persons <br />to express their views. Reverend Miller asked what projects had been approved <br />and Reverend Charles Chalmers answered by reviewing the status of the projects. <br />After giving all present an-opportunity to speak,. Commissioner William H. Cooper <br />moved that the hearing be closed, Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker'seconded <br />the motion. Prior to avote on the motion, Mr. Irvin Mansfield asked and was <br />given an opportunity to speak on behalf of the,CaPe Fear Rural Fire Department. <br />Mr,. Mansfield requested that funds be provided' for the' construction.of a fire <br />station in the Community Development Program application. The Board thanked <br />him for his appearance and advised him they would consider structures for all of <br />the'rural fire departments in the program. The Board then voted upon the pending <br />motion and it was unanimously adopted and the public hearing closed. <br />Vice-Chairman' Hancock advised the Board that the Tax Supervisor <br />was mailing a letter of explanation about the senior citizens exemption to all known <br />eligible persons and requested the members of the press and radio to give publicity <br />to this to insure that all eligible persons received the necessary information , <br />Vice-Chairman Hancock brought up for consideration the necessity <br />of making appointments to the Board of Di'rectors'of the Lee County,Hospital, <br />After discussion, Commissioner William H. Cooper.moved that consideration of <br />this matter be postponed until the first meeting in December 1975. Commissioner <br />Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a votit was unanimously <br />adopted. , <br />
