BOOK 8 muf 5UJ <br />MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Thursday, January 8, _1976__ <br />The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners <br />for Lee County, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners Room on the <br />second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North <br />Carolina, at twelve o'clock noon, in accordance with the motion of adjournment. <br />Commissioners William H. Cooper, John E.. Dotterer, Hal L. Hancock, <br />Franklin D. Wicker and Gordon A. Wicker were present. Chairman Gordon <br />A. Wicker presided and the following business was transacted: <br />The monthly bills as listed by the County Finance Officer, were <br />approved and ordered paid upon motion.of Commissioner Hal L. Hancock, <br />seconded by Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, which motion was unanimously <br />adopted upon a vote. <br />.Upon motion of Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, the sum of <br />$686. 00 was appropriated from the Emergency and Contingency Fund to the Bi- <br />Centennial Committee Fund for the expenses of that organization. The motion <br />was duly seconded and upon a roll call vote, Messrs. Cooper, Dotterer, Hancock, <br />F. Wicker and G. Wicker all voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />The written request of Marie Morris for a tax refund was presented <br />to the Board together with the recommendation of the Tax Supervisor that a refund <br />be made. Commissioner William H. Cooper moved that the Tax Collector be <br />authorized to make such refund and Commissioner Hal L. Hancock seconded the <br />motion. Upon a roll call vote, Messrs. Cooper, Dotterer, Hancock, F. Wicker <br />and G. Wicker all voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />The Chairman announced that no additional funds were available <br />for the requested utility line to the industrial site on N. C. Highway 87. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner William H. Cooper, which motion- <br />was seconded by Commissioner Dotterer and unanimously adopted upon a vote, <br />it was. RESOLVED to employ the firm of Williams & Works to design a sewer <br />line to the Allis Chalmers Plant and to the Armory site. <br />The Chairman brought up for consideration by the Board, <br />whether or not the Board should give some direction to the Board of Education as <br />to its intention with regard to teacher supplements for, the coming year. The <br />matter was discussed but no formal action was taken. <br />The Tax Collector, Nathan Crissman,, appeared before the Board <br />and requested authority to advertise taxes in April. Upon motion of Commissioner <br />William H. Cooper, duly seconded by Commissioner Hancock, which motion was <br />unanimously adopted, it was resolved to authorize the tax collector to advertise <br />for the sale of tax certificates in April. <br />
