February 2,_119.76.__ <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee <br />County, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners Room on the second <br />floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street,. Sanford, North Carolina, <br />at 9:30 o'clock a. m., on Monday, February 2, 1976. Those present for the <br />meeting were Commissioners William H. Cooper, John E. Dotterer, Hal L. <br />Hancock, Franklin. D. Wicker, and Gordon A. Wicker. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by the Clerk, K. R.. Hoyle. <br />Commissioner Hal L. Hancock reported that he had received a <br />request for an.entrance to the Pearce Family Cemetery on Secondary Road No. <br />1001, beyond the Wayside Presbyterian Church._ Commissioner Hancock re- <br />ported he had taken the matter up with Mr. Rickard of the'Maintenance Department <br />of the Department of Transportation and Mr. Rickard had told him that an entrance <br />would be constructed. <br />Commissioner Hancock was requested to find out if the Department <br />of Transportation would put a road in to the tract of land behind the Greenwood <br />School. r <br />a <br />Commissioner'Dotterer moved that the Board support the position <br />of the National Association of Counties on Senate Bill 1177. (the McGee Bill) and <br />House R. 1686 commonly called the Federal Postcard Registration Bill. 'Comm- <br />issioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimous- <br />ly adopted. 1 <br />Mr.. E. M. Underwood of the firm of John C. Muse and Company, <br />Certified Public Accountants,, appeared before the Board and presented a copy of <br />the audit of the Lee County Hospital to each member of the Board. <br />The Chairman reminded the members of the award to be presented <br />to Saco-Lowell on February 11, 1976, and the meeting at the Central Carolina <br />Technical Institute on February 4, 1976. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that the sum of <br />$2, 400. 00 be appropriated from the Landfill Fund for the purpose of purchasing a <br />used tractor from Tri-County Tractor Company. Commissioner.Hal L. Hancock <br />seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote, Messrs. Cooper, Dotterer, Han- <br />cock,. F. Wicker and G. Wicker voted for the motion and no one voted against it, <br />Commissioner Hal L. Hancock reported that the Deep River Fire <br />Department wanted to know if Community Development funds were available for <br />construction of a fire station and also for the purchase of equipment.
