BOOK 9 .Ao' MINUTES. OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS . FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA _......-...Monday,. February 2,_119.76.__ The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street,. Sanford, North Carolina, at 9:30 o'clock a. m., on Monday, February 2, 1976. Those present for the meeting were Commissioners William H. Cooper, John E. Dotterer, Hal L. Hancock, Franklin. D. Wicker, and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following business was transacted: The invocation was given by the Clerk, K. R.. Hoyle. Commissioner Hal L. Hancock reported that he had received a request for an.entrance to the Pearce Family Cemetery on Secondary Road No. 1001, beyond the Wayside Presbyterian Church._ Commissioner Hancock re- ported he had taken the matter up with Mr. Rickard of the'Maintenance Department of the Department of Transportation and Mr. Rickard had told him that an entrance would be constructed. Commissioner Hancock was requested to find out if the Department of Transportation would put a road in to the tract of land behind the Greenwood School. r a Commissioner'Dotterer moved that the Board support the position of the National Association of Counties on Senate Bill 1177. (the McGee Bill) and House R. 1686 commonly called the Federal Postcard Registration Bill. 'Comm- issioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimous- ly adopted. 1 Mr.. E. M. Underwood of the firm of John C. Muse and Company, Certified Public Accountants,, appeared before the Board and presented a copy of the audit of the Lee County Hospital to each member of the Board. The Chairman reminded the members of the award to be presented to Saco-Lowell on February 11, 1976, and the meeting at the Central Carolina Technical Institute on February 4, 1976. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that the sum of $2, 400. 00 be appropriated from the Landfill Fund for the purpose of purchasing a used tractor from Tri-County Tractor Company. Commissioner.Hal L. Hancock seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote, Messrs. Cooper, Dotterer, Han- cock,. F. Wicker and G. Wicker voted for the motion and no one voted against it, Commissioner Hal L. Hancock reported that the Deep River Fire Department wanted to know if Community Development funds were available for construction of a fire station and also for the purchase of equipment. The matter
