BC'IK ;1 tYCi~ <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING. <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, March l,. 1976 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee <br />County,. North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners Room of the County <br />Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at 9:30 o'clock <br />a. m., on Monday, March 1, 1976. Those present when the meeting opened <br />were Commissioners William H,_ Cooper, Hal L. Hancock, Franklin D. <br />Wicker and Gordon A. Wicker. Commissioner John E. Dotterer was absent <br />when the meeting opened. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker opened the meeting with prayer. <br />The minutes of the meeting of Monday, February 16,19 76, <br />were approved and ordered recorded, upon motion of Commissioner William <br />H. Cooper, seconded by Commissioner Hal L. Hancock, which motion was <br />unanimously adopted, upon a vote. . <br />Mrs. Pattie W. McGilvary, Register of Deeds, appeared before <br />the Board and requested that she be authorized to appoint Mrs. Nellie W. Thomas <br />as Deputy Register of Deeds with an increase in her monthly'salary from $432. 00 <br />to $450. 00. Mrs. McGilvary explained that Mrs. Wanda Thomas would be out for <br />three months on maternity leave and it would not require additional funds to pay the <br />increase in the salary. Commissioner Hal L. Hancock moved that the Board <br />authorize the appointment of Mrs. Nellie W. Thomas, as a Deputy Register of Deeds <br />and that her salary be increased from $432.00 to $450. 00. Commissioner William <br />H. Cooper seconded the motion and the motion was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer joined the meeting during the <br />discussion of the foregoing motion and participated in the vote on that motion and <br />in the further deliberations of the Board. <br />Commissioner Hal L. Hancock presented to the Board a petition <br />requesting that Secondary Road No. 1449 near Ward's Chapel Church in Deep <br />River Township be paved. Commissioner Hal L. Hancock moved the adoption <br />of the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County <br />Commissioners of the County of Lee, has investigated <br />the condition of the above described road which is now <br />a part of the system of roads maintained by the State <br />Highway Commission, and which is indicated in red on <br />the attached map; and <br />
