3 <br />- $ , A x_621 <br />MINUTES OF THE.REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />0------------ <br />Monday,•May 3rd, 1976 <br />------------0------------ <br />i <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, North <br />Carolina, convened in the Commissioners Room of the County Office Building, 200 <br />Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at 9:40 o'clock' a, m. , on Monday, May 3, <br />1976. Those present were Commissioners John E. Dotterer, Franklin D. Wicker, <br />and Gordon A. Wicker'. Commissioners William H. Cooper and Hal L; Hancock <br />were absent. <br />The minutes of'the meeting held on Monday, April 20, 1976, were approved <br />upon motion of Commissioner John E. Dotterer.=, seconded by Commissioner Franklin <br />D. Wicker, which motion was unanimously adopted, <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker presented a petition request*-ng that the <br />Secondary Road by the Ruritan Club be paved. After discussion, Commissioner <br />Franklin D. Wicker moved the adoption. of the following resolution with respect to <br />said Secondary Road No, <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of <br />Lee, has investigated the 'condition of the above described road,. which is <br />now a part of the system of roads maintained by the State Highway Comm- <br />ission, and which is indicated in red on the attached map; and <br />WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the services rendered by <br />said road and the traffic demands of said county, it is deemed necessary <br />that said road be improved in order to better serve the interests of the <br />people of this county. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, and..the Board of County <br />Commissioners hereby approved and request that the State Highway Comm- <br />ission make the, following improvements in the above described road: <br />PAVED, <br />Commissioner Dotterer seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />Mr. Walter Scoggins, County Building Inspector, and-Mr. Elon,Dickens, <br />Contractor, appeared before the Board, Mr. Scoggins' presented a copy of the section <br />of the County Building Code.Ordinance requiring a bond at the time application is filed <br />for a permit to remove or demolish.a'building. Mr. Dick ens'requested_that.he be . <br />granted an exemption from having to comply with. that. provision of the.Ordinance. <br />The matter was discussed at length and it was pointed out to Mr. Dickens that the bond <br />could be posted by either the landowner or the contractor. The Board did not take any <br />action to change the Ordinance. <br />The written report of D. F. Holder,. Sheriff, on the activities of his Department <br />was presented to the Board. <br />
