AOL Bfl~K 8 SAGE 696 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA Monday, September 20, `1976 The regular meeting-of the Board-of Commissioners.for-Lee County, convened on Monday, September 20, 1976, in the Commissioners Room on the second-floor of the County Office Building,at 200 Wicker Street, Sanford,. North Carolina; at 9:30 o'clock a, m. Those present when the meeting ,opened' were Commissioners William H. Cooper, John E. Dottie'rer, Hal L; Hancock, and Gordon A. Wicker, , Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker was absent., Chairman Gordon A.. Wicker presided and the' follbwing*'business was transacted': Reverend S. L. McKay of the Broadway Presbyterian Church opened the meeting with a prayer. The minutes of the'meeting held on September 7, 1976, were reviewed, corrected, and then approved for recordation, by motion of Commissioner William H. Cooper, seconded by Commissioner Hal L. Hancock,'. which motion was unanimous- ly adopted. Commissioner William H. Cooper.advised the Board he thought it advisable.to make application for matching funds to purchase two ambulances rather than just one, and requested authority to make such application. Commissioner Cooper moved the adoption of the following: WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners for-Lee County, herein called the "Applicant" has thoroughly c?nsidered the problem addressed in the application entitled Emergency Medical Services and has reviewed the project described in the applicati-,n; and WHEREAS, under the terms of Public Law 89-564, as amended, the United States of America has author- ized the Department of Transportation, through the North . Carolina Governor's Highway Safety Program to make federal grants to assist local. governments in the improvement of high- way safety, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED'.BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR.I EE COUNTY IN OPEN MEETING ASSEMBLED IN THE CITY OF SANFORD, NORTH CAROLINA, THIS 20TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER; 1976, AS FOLLOWS: 1, That the project referenced above is.in the best interest of the Applicant and the general public. 2, That Beatrice Fields, Finance Officer, be authorized to file, in behalf of the Applicant, an application in the form prescribed by the Governor's Highway Safety Program for federal funding in the aunt of $17, 000. 00, to be made to the Applicant to assist in defraying the cost of the project described in the application.
