LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />RESOLUTION BY THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />SUBMITTING TO THE NORTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE <br />AN APPLICATION FOR A BUILDING REUSE GRANT <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina General Assembly has made the North Carolina Department of <br />Commerce responsible for the Building Reuse Grant Program in North Carolina; and, <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Commerce and the Lee County Economic <br />Development Corporation have approached the Lee County Board of Commissioners seeking <br />their support for "Project Spring" in Lee County; and, <br />WHEREAS, "Project Spring" will create new investment in equipment and facility <br />improvements in Lee County of $13,000,000 and create 105 new jobs; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners with a recommendation from the LCEDC <br />has determined that the facility under consideration by "Project Spring" is an ideal location for a <br />Building Reuse Grant; and, <br />WHEREAS, due to the ongoing negotiations between the State and the Company and the <br />Company's site selection process, the Department of Commerce has asked that the County <br />not release the name of the Company at this time. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lee County Board of Commissioners <br />supports "Project Spring" and authorizes the Lee County EDC and the Lee County Manager to <br />make formal application to the Department of Commerce for a Building Reuse Grant. By <br />making the application to the Department, the Lee County Board of Commissioners commits to <br />provide the required 5% match not to exceed $25,000 if formally approved by all parties. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this commitment is considered an incentive and at the <br />appropriate time the Company name will be announced, a public hearing held on the <br />acceptance of the grant if approved, and a final vote will be held by the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners accepting all terms of the incentive package for "Project Spring". <br />Adopted this 7th day of April 2014. <br />ATTEST: <br />�:ia ne M. -J-:ee, Clef% to the Board <br />Charles T.
