r~ <br />i~ <br />coax FACE 701 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />.THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, October 4th, 1976 <br />The regular-meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, North Carolina, inet in the Commissioners room on the second floor of the <br />County office building, •200 Wicker, Street,, Sanford, North. Carolina, at 9:30 o'clock <br />a, m., .on-Monday.;-.October. 3, 1976. Those present when the meeting opened were <br />Commissioners William H, ,Cooper, Hal L,_ Hancock, and Gordon A. Wicker. Those <br />absent when the meeting opened but*who late joined the meeting were Commissioners <br />John E. Dotfe'rer and Franklin D. Wicker. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker, presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The minutes of the meeting held 'on September 20, 1976, were approved <br />upon motion of Commissioners Hancock, seconded by Commissioner Cooper, which <br />motion was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Hancock reported to the Board that he would meet <br />shortly with Mr. Lowell Rickard about maintenance on some of the County roads. <br />The Clerk was requested to write the Department of Transportation <br />officials about possibilities of improvements to the road leading past the Ruritan Club <br />house at Lemon Springs, <br />The Chairman reported that the Mental Health Board,had asked that the <br />terms of all members of its Board expire on June 30th, Commissioner Cooper moved <br />that all appointees of the Lee County Board of Commissioners to the Harnett-Lee <br />Mental Health Board have their term of office change so that their respective term <br />of office expires on June 30th in the year that-their term expires and that henceforth, <br />all appointments made -so that they terminate on June 30th.' Commissioner Hal L. <br />Hancock seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Chairman Wicker reported that Mr. Jerry Grimes from the office of <br />the Commissioner,of Insurance, will be at the County Office Building on October 6, <br />1976, at 2:00 p..m., to talk about rural fire departments. <br />- <br />Commissioner Hal L. Hancock'was designated as the representative <br />of the Board of Commissioners at the County Commissioners Day celebration at the <br />North Carolina State Fair, <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker announced that the Capital Health System <br />Agency will hold a public hearing at the Courthouse on October 13th, at 7:30 o'clock p. <br />m., to determine what the health needs of the County are. <br />Chairman Wicker reported that a letter had been received from the <br />Lee County Council on Aging requesting 'a letter of intent from the Commissioners <br />setting out that the County,would provide the local matching funds to support the <br />Title VII NutritiondProgram. Commissioner Cooper moved that the Board issue a <br />'letter of intent to the Council on Aging insuring them that the County would provide <br />$1, 976.00 so that the feeding program may be,maintained. Commissioner Hancock <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />
