BOOK 9 TAU 20 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, November 7, 1977 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, <br />North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the <br />County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford,. North Carolina, on Monday, <br />November 7, 1977, at 9 o'clock a. m. Those present when the meeting opened <br />were Commissioners William H. Cooper, Clyde J. Rhyne and Gordon A. Wicker. <br />Commissioners John E. Dotterer and Franklin D. Wicker were absent. <br />Chairman William H. Cooper presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />The meeting was opened by prayer given by Reverend Richard <br />Hobson, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Sanford, North Carolina. <br />The minutes of the meeting held on October 17, 1977, were <br />approved and ordered recorded, upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, <br />which motion was seconded by Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne and upon a vote was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker joined the meeting and participated <br />in the further deliberations of the Board. <br />There was a discussion about road matters, but no formal resolutions <br />were enacted. <br />The monthly bills as listed by the County Finance Officer were re- <br />viewed and discussed. The Statement of Landmark Engineers, concerning tax <br />mapping was discussed, and Mr. Clark, the Tax Supervisor, was invited to attend <br />the meeting to discuss this bill. Commissioner Rhyne moved that payment of <br />Landmark's bill be withheld temporarily and that representatives be invited to <br />attend the next meeting to explain their activities this year. There was no second <br />and Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that consideration of Landmark's bill <br />be tabled. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that the other bills as <br />listed by the County Finance Officer be approved for payment. Commissioner <br />Rhyne seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The written departmental reports which had been received were dis- <br />tributed to the members of the Board and also a report was made on the status of <br />the insurance on the hospital building. <br />The letter from the County Planning Board requesting that a member <br />of the Board of Commissioners attend their November 9th and December 14th <br />meeting, was read to the Board. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker was designated <br />to attend these meetings on behalf of the Board and he was authorized to invite Mr. <br />Jon Moore to accompany him. <br />
