BOOK 9 TAU 20 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA Monday, November 7, 1977 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford,. North Carolina, on Monday, November 7, 1977, at 9 o'clock a. m. Those present when the meeting opened were Commissioners William H. Cooper, Clyde J. Rhyne and Gordon A. Wicker. Commissioners John E. Dotterer and Franklin D. Wicker were absent. Chairman William H. Cooper presided and the following business was transacted: The meeting was opened by prayer given by Reverend Richard Hobson, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Sanford, North Carolina. The minutes of the meeting held on October 17, 1977, were approved and ordered recorded, upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne and upon a vote was unanimously adopted. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker joined the meeting and participated in the further deliberations of the Board. There was a discussion about road matters, but no formal resolutions were enacted. The monthly bills as listed by the County Finance Officer were re- viewed and discussed. The Statement of Landmark Engineers, concerning tax mapping was discussed, and Mr. Clark, the Tax Supervisor, was invited to attend the meeting to discuss this bill. Commissioner Rhyne moved that payment of Landmark's bill be withheld temporarily and that representatives be invited to attend the next meeting to explain their activities this year. There was no second and Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that consideration of Landmark's bill be tabled. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that the other bills as listed by the County Finance Officer be approved for payment. Commissioner Rhyne seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. The written departmental reports which had been received were dis- tributed to the members of the Board and also a report was made on the status of the insurance on the hospital building. The letter from the County Planning Board requesting that a member of the Board of Commissioners attend their November 9th and December 14th meeting, was read to the Board. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker was designated to attend these meetings on behalf of the Board and he was authorized to invite Mr. Jon Moore to accompany him.
