0 BOOK 9 siict 3 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, April 17, 1978 <br />The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee <br />County, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners Room on the second <br />floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, <br />on Monday, April 17, 1978, at 7:00 o'clock p, m. Those present were Comm- <br />issioners William H. Cooper, John E. Dotterer, Franklin D. Wicker and Gordon <br />A. Wicker. Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne was absent. <br />Chairman William H. Cooper presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by Mr. W. R. Makepeace, Jr., a former <br />Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, a Lay Speaker from Si` Luke <br />United Methodist Church. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on Monday, April 3rd, <br />1978, were approved and ordered recorded upon motion of Commissioner John E. <br />Dotterer, seconded by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, which motion was unan- <br />imously adopted upon a vote. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved the adoption of the following <br />resolution with respect to Secondary Roads 1196 and °h.97: <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners <br />of the County of Lee, has investigated the condition of the <br />above described road which is now a part of the system or <br />roads maintained by the State Highway Commission, and <br />which is indicated in red on the attached map; and <br />WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the <br />services rendered by said road and the traffic demands <br />of said county, it is deemed necessary that said road be <br />improved in order to better serve the interests of the <br />people of this county. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND THE <br />BOARD 'OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS hereby approve and <br />request that the State Highway Commission make the follow- <br />ing improvements in the above described road: Paved <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon <br />a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that the budget for the <br />fiscal year 1977-1978 be amended to increase the general fund revenue to include <br />$17, 815. 00 from Anti-Recession Funds from the U. S. Treasury and that said sum <br />be appropriated to the Sanitary Landfill Fund to maintain the present level of <br />service and to increase the appropriation for the line items as follows: <br />Maintenance Equipment $ 7, 000.00 <br />Auto Maintenance 7, 665.00 <br />Insurance and Bonds 3,150.00 <br />
