E 9 A13 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, May 15, 1978 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners Room on the second floor <br />of the County Office Building, at 7 o'clock p. m., on Monday, May 15, 1978. <br />Those present when the meeting opened were Commissioners Clyde J. Rhyne, <br />William H. Cooper and Gordon A. Wicker. Commissioners John E. Dotterer and <br />Franklin D. Wicker were absent when the meeting opened but joined the meeting <br />while it was in progress. <br />Chairman William H. Cooper presided and the following business <br />was transaCted: <br />The minutes of the meeting held on May 1st, 1978, were approved <br />and ordered recorded upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, duly <br />seconded by Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne, which motion was unanimously adopted <br />upon a vote. <br />The petition seeking to have Secondary Road No. 1162, commonly <br />called the "Wayside Road", paved, was presented to the Board. The petition was <br />considered and Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved the adoption of the follow- <br />ing resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners <br />of the County of Lee,. has investigated the condition of the <br />above described road, which is now a part of the system <br />of roads maintained by the State Highway Commission, and <br />which is indicated in red on the attached map; and <br />WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the <br />services rendered by said road and the traffic demands of <br />said county, it is deemed necessary that said road be <br />improved in order to better serve the interests of the people <br />of this county. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, and the <br />Board of County Commissioners hereby approve and request <br />that the State Highway Commission make the following improve- <br />ments in the above described road: Paved <br />Commissioner Clyde J. Rhyne seconded the resolution and upon a <br />vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker requested that the Highway <br />Commission be notified to make any response to this petition to Mr. C. N. Castle- <br />berry, Jr. <br />Commissioner John E. Dotterer joined the meeting and participated <br />in the further deliberations of the Board. <br />Mr. Jon Moore appeared before the Board and gave a report on <br />the CETA Program. It was Mr. Moore's opinion that it would be the middle or <br />
