-•ilir V figt. <br />f•T-HE REGULAR MEETING' <br />MINUTES OFA <br />' OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />F OR+e <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />":Monday, August,21,,.1978 <br />1, "J, 1 1 <br />The regular meeting-of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, convened in the` Commissioners Room on the second floor of the County <br />Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at 7:00 o'clock p, m., <br />on Monday, August 21st, 1978. Those present were Commissioners William H. <br />Cooper, Franklin D. Wicker and Gordon A. Wicker. Commissioners John E. <br />Dotterer and Clyde J. Rhyne were absent. <br />Chairman William H. Cooper presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />a <br />The invocation was given by the Reverend Bob Shepherd, Pastor of <br />the First Baptist Church in Sanford, North Carolina. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on August 7, 1978, were <br />considered and upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, duly seconded by <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, were approved and ordered recorded. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved the adoption of the following <br />resolution pertaining to a Training Grant from the LEAA: <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners <br />herein called the "Applicant" has thoroughly considered the <br />problem addressed in the subgrant application entitled "Training <br />Grant" and has reviewed the project described in the application; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, under the terms of Public Law 90-351, as <br />amended, the United States of America has authorized the Law <br />Enforcement Assistance Administration, through the North <br />Carolina Law and Order Section to make federal grants to assist <br />local governments in the improvement of the criminal justice <br />system, <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEE <br />COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, IN OPEN MEETING <br />ASSEMBLED IN THE CITY OF SANFORD, NORTH CAROLINA, <br />THIS 21ST DAY OF AUGUST, 1978, AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. That the project referenced above is in the best <br />interest of the Applicant and the general public. <br />2. That D. F. Holder, Sheriff, be authorized to file, <br />in behalf of the Applicant, an application in the form prescribed <br />by the Law and Order Section for a subgrant in the amount of <br />$874. 00 to be made to the Applicant to assist in defraying the <br />cost of the project described in the application. This individual <br />shall act as the authorized representative of the Applicant in <br />
