233 <br />E <br />J <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, September 18, 1978 <br />The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners Room, second floor of the <br />County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, at 7:00 o'clock <br />p. m. , on Monday, September 18, 1978. Those present were Commissioners <br />William H. Cooper, John E. Dotterer, Clyde J. Rhyne and Gordon A. Wicker. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker was absent when the meeting opened but <br />joined the meeter later. <br />The Chairman, William H. Cooper presided and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by the Reverend Gilbert McDowell, Pastor <br />of the Jonesboro Baptist Church. <br />The minutes of the September 5th, 1978 meeting were approved and <br />ordered recorded, upon motion of Commissioner Rhyne, seconded by Commissioner <br />Gordon A. Wicker, which motion was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker presented a petition requesting <br />that Secondary Road No. 1146 be paved. After discussion, Commissioner Wicker <br />moved the adoption of the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of <br />the County of Lee, has investigated the condition of the above- <br />described road, which is now a part of the system of roads <br />maintained by the State Highway Commission, and which is <br />indicated in red on the attached map; and <br />WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the services <br />rendered by said road and the traffic demands of said County, <br />it is deemed necessary that said road be improved in order to <br />better serve the interests of the people of this County. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, and the Board of <br />County Commissioners hereby approved and request that the <br />State Highway Commission make the following improvements <br />in the above described road: Paved. <br />Commissioner Rhyne seconded the motion and upon a vote it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker joined the meeting and participated <br />in the further deliberations of the Board. <br />
