BOOK i PAGE278 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA Wednesday, August 28, 1968 A Special Meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' Room at the Lee County Courthouse on Wednesday, August 28, 1968, at 3:30 o'clock p. m. , in accordance with and pursuant to a call issued by the Chairman, under the authority of General Statutes 143-8. Those present were Chairman John E. Dotterer, Commissioners Max McLeod, A. E. White, Franklin D. Wicker and Charles Robert Yow. None of the Commissioners were absent. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was transacted: Mr. Jimmy Love and Mr. Scott Swindell from the Sanford Chamber of Commerce, appeared before the Board and discussed an ordinance regulating itinerant peddlers. They were requested to furnish drafts of proposed ordinances to the Board for study. Mr. Bob Harris, Manager of the City of Sanford, and Mr. Scott Swindell of the Sanford Chamber of Commerce, appeared before the Board and discussed expanding the water line to Northview to a 12 inch line. An extended discussion was held but no formal action was taken. The Clerk was instructed to invite representatives of Boney & Newcomb, Consulting Engineers, with the City of Sanford, to meet with the Board on Tuesday, September 3rd, to discuss an engineering survey for a countywide water system. . Commissioner White moved the adoption of the following resolution: WHEREAS, the $35, 000 School Bond Anticipation Note dated March 7, 1968, payable September 6, 1968, issued in anticipation of the issuance of bonds authorized by the bond order hereinafter described will become due on September 6, 1968, and the Board of Commissioners desires to provide for the renewal of said note as hereinafter set forth; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Comrissioners of the County of Lee as follows: (1) Said outstanding note shall be renewed by the issuance of a $35, 000 School Bond Anticipation Note pursuant to the County Finance Act of North Carolina, as amended, for the purpose for which bonds are authorized to be issued by the bond order entitled "Bond Order authorizing the issuance of $35, 000 School Bonds of the County of Lee", adopted by the Board of Commissioners of the County on December 4, 1967, in anticipation of the receipt of the proceeds of the sale of the bonds authorized to be issued by said bond order.
