MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, January 20, 1975 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, convened in the Commissioners' room on the "second floor of <br />the County Office Building at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the <br />City of Sanford, at 7:00 o'clock p, m. , on Monday, January 20, 1975. Those <br />present when the meeting was called to order were Commissioners Hal L. <br />Hancock, Franklin D. Wicker, and Gordon A. Wicker. Commissioners <br />William H. Cooper and John E. Dotterer were absent. The Chairman declared <br />that a quorum was present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker, presided and the following <br />businesswas transacted: <br />I <br />The meeting was opened by a prayer given by Chairman Gordon <br />A. Wicker. <br />Commissioner Hal L. Hancock presented a petition requesting <br />the road in the Jones Trailer Court be added to the State Secondary Road System. <br />There was a discussion about whether or not a trailer court came under the same <br />regulations as a subdivision. The Clerk was directed to write the District office <br />in:Aberdeen and ascertain what rules apply to such a development. No action <br />was taken on the petition pending receipt of this information from the Highway <br />authorities. <br />Commissioner Hancock also brought to the attention of the <br />Board a request that Secondary Road No. 1500 (Lick Creek Road) be raised in <br />height a sufficient distance to prevent it from being flooded. The Clerk was <br />requested to bring this matter to the attention of the Highway authorities in <br />Aberdeen. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker inquired if any work was <br />planned on the Chalmers Road across from be Jonesboro School. Commissioner <br />Hancock advised that the last report he had received was that some of the prop- <br />erty owners would not give the necessary sixty foot right of way and this was <br />preventing any work being done on the project. ' <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker called to the attention of the <br />Board that the Department of Transportation was moving the maintenance shop <br />from Sanford to Asheboro and also moving much of the equipment formerly kept <br />in Sanford to Asheboro. After discussion, Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker <br />moved that the Board go on record as opposing the movement and relocation of <br />the maintenance garage, vehicles, and equipment by the Department of Trans- <br />portation from Sanford to Asheboro, and authorize and direct the Chairman and <br />
