k <br />® oos 13 per,: 19 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETINGO <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />V <br /> <br />Tuesday, January 2, 1990 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 9:30 A.M. <br />on Tuesday, January 2, 1990, in the Commissioners' room on the <br />second floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, <br />Sanford, North Carolina. Those present were: Commissioners <br />Albert L. Cox, John R. Dossenbach, Jr. Bertha L. Matthews, <br />William C. Stafford, Jr. and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman <br />Wicker declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the <br />transaction of business. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by Commissioner Cox. <br />The Board considered the minutes for <br />December 18th meetings. Corrections were <br />the December 18th meeting. After the cor <br />Commissioner Cox moved that the drafts as <br />as the official minutes for said meetings <br />recorded. Commissioner Stafford seconded <br />vote the results were as follows: <br />the December 4th and <br />made to the draft of <br />rections were made, <br />amended be adopted <br />and that they be <br />the motion and upon a <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Stafford and Wicker. <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion carried unanimously. <br />Commissioner Cox, referring to the December 4th minutes, <br />asked the County Attorney to check and see if some of the <br />restrictions listed on the Wilrik Building could be removed. <br />Mr. Hoyle advised he would look into this and report back at the <br />next meeting. <br />Mr. Edward L. Bullard, Jr. was recognized. Mr. Bullard <br />introduced Mr. LaVerne Thornton and explained that in 1981 Mr. <br />Thornton contracted with Ms. Nora Matheson to purchase a duplex <br />on Lawrence Street. The purchase contract called for Lot 12 - <br />neither buyer nor seller realized the parcel was composed of two <br />lots. Shortly thereafter, the county foreclosed on Lot 13 for <br />non-payment of taxes. Ms. Matheson thought she had sold all of <br />her property. Mr. Thornton has agreed to pay all back taxes if <br />the county will deed the lot to Mrs. Matheson. They have agreed <br />1 <br />
