M= ES OF <br />THE BOARD <br />or. 13 21t,60 <br />THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />C <br />Monday, June 11, 1990 <br /> <br />The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of <br />Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, <br />convened at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, June 11, 1990, in the <br />Commissioners' room on the second floor of the County Office <br />Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina, the same <br />being the time, date, and place specified in the motion of <br />adjournment. Those present were: Commissioners Albert L. Cox, <br />John R. Dossenbach, Jr. Bertha L. Matthews, William C. <br />Stafford, Jr. and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman Wicker declared <br />a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of <br />business. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />The County Manager advised the Board of a letter from the <br />North Carolina Association of County Commissioners advising that <br />the Senate proposes a major cut in reimbursements. The proposal <br />would reduce by 10% the amount of reimbursements going to cities <br />.and counties as compensation for revenues lost because of repeal <br />of the taxes on inventory and intangible holdings. The amount <br />of funds lost to the cities and counties would be at least $24 <br />million. House leaders had previously discussed a 3% reduction <br />in those funds. This would cost Lee County $92,500. <br />Commissioner Dossenbach reported that he had spoken with <br />Mr. Ron Aycock, Executive Director of the N. C. Association of <br />County Commissioners this morning. Mr. Aycock reported that it <br />would also cost Lee County another $120,000 in school funds. <br />The Association has called a news conference jointly with the <br />League of Municipalities at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday morning at the <br />Albert Coates Center in Raleigh. The Board discussed at length <br />the effect of these cuts. <br />The County Manager reported on a letter <br />Sanford advising that the Law and Finance Co <br />of Aldermen have appointed the City Manager, <br />Pro Tem Crowson and the Director of Planning <br />discuss the City's extraterritorial planning <br />representatives from Lee County.
