This item was tabled at the October 3, 2005 meeting until additional <br />information could be received on how many North Carolina counties are participating in <br />the program and if there would be a cost or charge for the County to administer the <br />program. Commissioner Brown moved to revive discussion of the prescription drug <br />card program. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Brown, Hincks, Lemmond, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Chairman Hincks stated that NACo's Board of Directors unanimously approved <br />this program which seeks to help uninsured individuals cope with the high price of <br />prescription drugs. The program, which had been operating as a pilot program for eight <br />months, has saved residents in seventeen counties across the United States more than <br />$658,000 on prescription drugs with an overall average savings rate of 19%. More than <br />48,000 prescriptions have been filled through the pilot program. The card, which costs <br />
