Sanford-Lee County Community Development Director Bob Bridwell told the <br />Board that the purpose of the advertised public hearing was to hear comments <br />concerning the new Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). Mr. Bridwell stated that the <br />County of Lee, City of Sanford, and Town of Broadway would be asked to approve the <br />same UDO in hopes of streamlining the development process in anticipation of growth. <br />The process began in late 1997 and has involved many meetings with steering <br />committee members and staff. Assistant Community Development Director Marshall <br />Downey told the Board the target date for implementation is January 2006. Mr. Downey <br />also outlined the process for the Joint Planning Commission, the changing of lot sizes in <br />the RA District, and accessory dwelling regulations. He further stated that the new <br />ordinance would consolidate the county's current 35 zoning districts into approximately <br />20 districts. <br />Chairman Hincks opened the advertised public hearing at this time and the <br />following individuals spoke: <br />Albert Adcock, 1414 Gormly Circle, Sanford <br />Rex Brown, 7301 Villanow Drive, Sanford <br />Paul Adcock, 2164 Valley Road, Sanford <br />Theresa Dew, 317 Queens Road, Sanford <br />Chairman Hincks closed the public hearing. <br />With no further business to come before the Board, Chairman Hincks recessed <br />the meeting to 4:00 p.m., August 23, 2004. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Brown, Hincks, Lemmond, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Paschal <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously and the meeting <br />recessed in keeping with the motion. <br />Herbert A.
