The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously.
The second item requested for approval by the Planning Board involved the
placement of a 250' monopole wireless telecommunications tower on a 100' x 100'
leasehold parcel of land owned by Archie T. and Betty D. Brooks located at 7009 Old
Jefferson Davis Highway. The petition was requested by New Cingular Wireless PCs,
LLC and also included a revision to the existing Residential-Mixed Conditional Use
District with Conditional Use Permit for six residential apartment units, to retain the
existing approved use and add the telecommunications tower. Commissioner Adams
moved to approve the recommendation of the Planning Board on the above mentioned
request and Order for a Conditional Use Permit, a copy of which is attached to these
minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the results were as
follows:
Aye: Adams, Brown, Hincks, Lemmond, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens
Nay: None
The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously.
Revaluation Coordinator Mike Cole gave the Board a monthly update on the
2007 revaluation project. No action was taken on the
matter.
The Board considered a late list penalty request from Kendale Lanes. Tax
Administrator Kep Kepley told the Board that Kendale Lanes submitted a request in
April asking that the late list penalty be waived. Their letter to the Clerk stated that both
the owner and bookkeeper thought the listing had been mailed on time. Mr. Kepley
recommended that the request to waive the late list penalty of $328.14 be denied
because the property was not listed during the listing period as per N.C. General
Statute. Chairman Hincks moved to accept the recommendation of the Tax
Administrator to deny the request to waive the late list penalty request for Kendale
Lanes in the amount of $328.14. Tax Administrator Kep Kepley told the Board that Blossman Gas and
Appliance submitted a request in July asking that the late list penalty be waived. Their
letter to the Clerk stated the listing was postmarked one day late, therefore they were
asking that it be waived. Mr. Kepley recommended that the request to waive the late list
penalty of $574.69 be denied because the property was not listed during the listing
period per N. C. General Statute.
