ME 499 <br />Concrete Paving: <br />Carter Concrete Works $48,413.90 <br />Sanford, NC <br />Romero's Concrete $40,571.50 <br />Sanford, NC <br />Torres Construction Co. $57,758.60 <br />Sanford, NC <br />Mr. Cole recommended bids be awarded to Fence Builders, Inc. ($25,400), Carolina Lawns <br />($52,340), and Romero's Concrete ($40,571.50). After some discussion, Commissioner <br />Stevens moved to accept bids as recommended by Mr. Cole. Upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Brown, Hincks, Lemmond, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Paschal <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a resolution providing current expense funding for the Board of <br />Education. Finance Director Lisa Minter answered questions concerning the proposed <br />resolution. After some discussion, Commissioner Brown moved to approve a Resolution for <br />Providing Current Expense Education Funding, a copy of which is attached to these minutes <br />• and by this reference made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Brown, Hincks, Lemmond, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Paschal <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board discussed a resolution adopted by Macon County, North Carolina, requesting <br />the North Carolina General Assembly to limit the exercise of public domain to public purposes. <br />After some discussion, Commissioner Lemmond moved for the County Attorney to draft a <br />resolution similar to Macon County's resolution and forward to Commissioners for review prior to <br />signing by the Chairman. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Brown, Hincks, Lemmond, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Paschal <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered appointments to the Lee County Criminal Justice Partnership <br />Advisory Board. Public Defender and Community Service Coordinator positions are still needed <br />on the Board as stated in the General Statute. Commissioner Lemmond stated he would try to <br />locate a Public Defender to serve and County Manager David Smitherman was asked to contact <br />the Hispanic Task Force for a representative.
